A 20 ft long, 20 in. diameter concrete pile is installed into sand that has =30o and = 120 lb/ft3. The
modulus of elasticity of concrete is 5 x 105 kips/ft2. The pile is 15 ft into the ground and 5 ft above
ground. The water table is near groun surface.

Calculate ultimate and the allowable lateral resistance by Brinch Hansen’s Method.
