Details

Servelec technologies have identified an issue where using new hardware DI-10 modules with the obsolete
DO-5 module can damage the DI-10 modules.

The old DO-5 module (now obsolete) have the 24V and the 12V inputs shorted together by inductors. In the
DI-10 module (Hardware version 4.3 onwards) the 24v bus is used to synchronize time between a DI-10 GPS
and slave module. Connecting DO-5 and DI-10 4.3 hardware together on the backplane introduces 12V to the
time synchronization bus and thus damages the time sync circuitry on the DI-10.

Please note that this issue is caused only when DI-10(4.3) hardware is introduced on the backplane along with
a DO-5 module

Recommended Action

The DO-5 hardware must be upgraded to resolve this issue. This cannot be done in the field so the affected
DO-5 modules must be returned to the Semaphore factory for upgrade, under warranty. Please contact your
local Semaphore office to arrange the return of the modules to our factory for upgrade.

If you do not use the DI-10 4.3 hardware then you can of course choose to ignore this issue.
