Tuning and Notation

The altguitar is notated similarly to a standard 6-string guitar although transposed up

a minor third, i.e. the first string is a notated E but will produce the pitch G. In the
other words, with a capotasto(cejilla) on fret 3, the standard 6-string guitar will
produce the some pitch of the open first the six strings of the alto guitar.

The main advantage of keeping the notation in line with that of a standard guitar is
that it makes the transition between the two instruments much more manageable.
Worth noting is that the initial idea behind the altguitar was to be able to play music
composed for the lute which inherently is written of tabulature and thus avoids the
issue of transposition altogether.
