The Swan Lake

The river flows its waters through the stream, full of swans. Each one of this white
creature gracefully spreads its wings as it paddles its feet to swim around its home. Among the
bevy, stands out one swan that has a tiny crown, leading its flock by its gracefulness. To be
graceful and magical, that is what I aspire. The Swan Lake is a ballet piece that tells us a story of
magic, love, tragedy, and bravery. These four fundamental pieces has rather provided a relevance
to how my life has been, and how I wanted it to be.

Its story starts with a Prince named Siegfried, who celebrates his 21 st birthday. Being in a
legal age, he has been decided to marry someone for the good both of his parents and their
people. Angrily, he went into a forest carrying his crossbow, aiming to hunt animals. He fell
deeper into the forest and found a lake, filled with swans. His attention was caught by a graceful
crowned swan swimming and dancing at the middle of the bevy. The lake’s calm ambiance has
made him tranquil for a long time, making him stay up until the night. Dusk fell, he lost track of
time, but despite of this incidence, he found himself a scene of this crowned swan turning into a
beautiful young woman in front of his eyes. The woman, named Odette, was known to be cursed
by an evil sorcerer, which happens to be his mentor. Thus, the story is followed by several
tragedies and deceptions, but it all ended with Prince Siegfried’s bravery of sacrificing himself,
together with Odette for the sake of everyone.

Now, further than my desire of portraying my skills in acts about magic and romance,
Swan Lake is also known as the piece that is lead by a prima ballerina, a role that is determined
to be a goal for ballerinas at a very young age. I wanted to show the world of what I have
achieved, and what I have been practicing. I wanted to let the people know of how hard I have
been practicing in order to let them see a good show that would make them feel something
unique, maybe a spark of inspiration or simply an entertainment. This is the sole reason of why I
have chosen the Swan Lake as the piece to be performed. To be graceful and proud of what I
have achieved in front of the stage. Like how a swan proudly flaps its wings in graceful ways,
it’s white yet pure feathers embracing its audiences with its own magic.
