2-1-1- Short Response History

1) I felt that locating the primary sources was rather easy. I think because I was provided
the three sites to search I was able to easily find what I was looking for. It also helped
that I didn’t just type in the person’s name I wanted to be more specific so I typed in
Tom Evans and the atomic bomb, Szilard petition and Lilli Hornig interview. Anytime
I read something new I pick up more and more. I think out of the three it was Lilli’s
interview that I enjoyed the most.

2) Searching for the interview with Tom Evans I went to the Truman Library Archives.
Being he was linked to President Truman and interacted with scientists who were
trying to reach Truman with their campaign against the use of the atomic bomb I felt I
would be able to find what I was looking for here. I went to the search, typed in Tom
Evans and the atomic bomb and it pulled right
up. https://www.trumanlibrary.org/oralhist/evans4.htm

3) Since I was trying to search the petition I went to the National Security Archive,
clicked on the document page and searched Szilard petition. It pulled the petition right
up. https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu//dc.html?doc=3913500-R-E-Lapp-Leo-Szilard-et-al-
A-Petition-to-the

4) Trying to find the interview with Lilli Hornig, I went to the Manhattan Project Voices
sight, I went to the search and put in Lilli Hornig interview and it pulled up the article
and video interview with her. https://www.manhattanprojectvoices.org/oral-
histories/lilli-hornigs-interview
