**** Important Information regarding the submission of Extenuating Circumstances Claims ****

EC claims are submitted electronically on e:Vision. You can find full details of the EC process online
here.

Please refer to the ‘If Things Go Wrong’ section of Moodle for further information.
http://moodle.city.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=20067

Further information about ECs and what might constitute an EC can be found in your Student
Handbook (available on Moodle).

All claims need to have supporting evidence. For example if you are ill, you must provide a medical
certificate. Please note a medical note provided by the University Health Centre may not be
accepted by the Extenuating Circumstances Panel. If you are not already registered with a doctor we
recommend you do so now. Alternatively, you can attend an NHS Walk in Centre; details of your
nearest Centre can be found at the link below:

lk-incentresFAQ.aspx

What constitutes valid evidence and suggestions for alternative types of evidence can be found on
Moodle in the Extenuating Circumstances section, under If things go wrong; you may submit your
evidence as a hard copy or alternatively follow the instruction provided on the form to submit it
electronically. You are advised not to send applications or supporting evidence in the post: if they
are lost in the post the most likely outcome is that your claim will be rejected.

The following link will take you to Senate Regulation 19, where you will find our regulations
regarding Extenuating Circumstances under section 4.8:

Please ensure you have read these in full before you submit a claim or make an enquiry about doing
so.

If you have any questions please contact us at lawecandappeals@city.ac.uk. Please note, however,
that we cannot pre-empt the decision of an EC panel.
