COUNTRIES WHERE COVID-19 HAS SPREAD

 Analysis of data:
1. According to death rate, Italy is the first country with the highest death rate
11.75%, cases 101,739, and deaths of 11,591.
2. Lockdown is been observed around the globe, preventative measures are been
observed around the globe like social distancing, education system is conducted
online, in some countries there are partial lockdowns and in some there complete
lockdown.
3. There are more confirmed cases in the US as compared to other countries. This
outbreak emerged from China back in December 2019.
4. Although this outbreak emerged from China but the death rate is lower as
compared to Italy, Spain, and Iran. These are the countries that are worst affected.
5. Badly affected countries are working hard on taking preventive measures to slow
down the spread of disease.
6. Countries with low death rates show/ depicts that they are following preventive
measures properly.
7. Singapore and South Korea, are following strict rules to stop the spread of this
deadly disease.
8. Moving on to the gulf countries, first preventive measures were not taken
seriously, but as their cases increased, the government imposed partial lockdowns.
They are not comprising on anything as in there are no such lay-offs of
employees.
9. There are many countries like Libya, Greenland, Eswatini- Africa and many
more, there are low number of covid-19 cases with no deaths so far. It shows that
there may be travel ban already imposed by the government, social distancing is
observed.
10. In gulf countries, one’s who don’t follow the rules are fined.
11. Total cases and total deaths around the globe are going side by side.

12. The countries of Europe, America- North and South, and Africa are most affected
with more or less cases and death rates.
13. Every country is following its own rules to deal with this deadly virus. To reduce
the cases and curing them effectively.
14. In case of US, Italy, France, Iran, and more countries with high number of cases
and death rate, it can be said that the virus is still circulating and is not been
stopped or diagnosed fully.
15. For Japan plus Diamond Princess, the passengers having virus are not dealt fully.
No proper treatment might be given to them.
16. It is stated that the higher temperatures and higher humidity reduces the spread of
deadly disease.
17. Looking at the excel sheet, it can be concluded that countries like Italy, Uk South
Korea, US and more with low temperatures have high rate of cases, deaths, or
more.
18. In countries with colder climate, the virus can soar in air for a longer period of
time which in turn infects more and more people.
19. But in countries with higher temperatures of Africa, there no deaths and very few
cases. Because in hotter climate, the virus in air floats for a less time.
20. Temperature higher or lower, increases or decreases the respiratory viruses. With
higher temperature the respiratory viruses reduces as compared to colder
temperatures.

 WHO guidelines:
It is a document containing recommendations and procedures to practice measures
regarding health policy. These procedures are about what one can do or take steps to stop
a disease from spreading. These measures show how to reduce the worst outcomes of
disease. It requires efforts both individually and collectively.

 Steps taken by different countries to counter Covid-19.?

To counter covid-19 here are few steps that other countries has taken:
1. Singapore: there are cases of corona patients from their citizens who are
returning from UK and USA.
2. They are placed in quarantine as they arrive at airport. They have all the
infrastructure and facilities and they started locking down early as compared to
other countries.
3. People go out for groceries and then come back home. Schools of kids are opened
but the universities and college are following online classes. Singapore is not on
complete lockdown but on partial lockdown.
4. Malls and schools are at the normal routine but with slightest changes. Except
maintaining social distancing and there is a restriction on travelling.
5. United Arab Emirates: Daily roads and streets are sanitized. UAE is on partial
lockdown from 8pm to 6am.
6. Private sector (businesses): there are two shifts- one day 30% of the staff attend
and work- the next day the other 30% of the staff attend and work. Attendance is
compulsory for the employees (staff). Online facility to those who can work from
home.
7. Government sector jobs: for female workers, they are allowed to work from
home. And for men it’s the same procedure as that of private sector but in
government jobs all the labor is also involved.
8. Public dealings are also allotted 30%. The visitors already have the information
about the requirements, in short everything is being told beforehand through
telecommunication conversation. Visitors are allowed to visit for 5 minutes only
in which they collect their documents or whatever their requirement was and
leave.
9. Malls are 90% closed with only supermarkets/ (hypermarkets) in operation. All
schools and universities are following online system.
10. For restaurants, they are in operation but without physical touch. The waiter or the
employee comes out to take the order keeping the distance 1.5m, they offer no
menu just ask what they want to eat and they tell what’s on the menu.
Wadiah Akbar Mba 1 500366 Logical and Critical Thinking 2

11. When receiving money for the meal, they just slide the one end of the tray from
the other window of the car and ask them to place the money. Proper care of
wearing gloves and masks are taken into consideration when doing any work.
12. In UAE, radars catch those breaking covid-19 travel curbs. These radars catches
any chauffeur who do not obey with stay home orders during the National
Sterilization Programme in UAE.
13. There is a minimum fine of 600 AED to maximum of 2000 AED.
14. Australia: Government has launched aggressive advertisements to keep social
distancing and only to go out if it’s necessary/ essential.
15. Social gatherings and public places are shut down. Public gatherings are been
reduced to maximum of 2 people.
16. It is advised to stay home unless one is shopping for essentials, receiving medical
care, exercising, or travelling to work or education.
17. Aged people of 60- 70 years, are advised to stay home.
18. If someone is self- isolating he or she should completely isolate and inform the
spread of virus.
19. All travelers returning home from overseas will be quarantined in a hotel or
designated for 14 days.
20. Pubs, clubs, gyms, cinemas, weddings, funerals, all outside fitness classes, places
of worship, and playgrounds are closed. Super markets and pharmacies are
opened.

 Steps Pakistan has taken? Pros and cons? Which steps not taken and

why?

To minimize the spread of coronavirus, Pakistan Supreme Court has taken some
preventive measures. Staff members above the age of 50 years have been advised to work
from home. Only the important staff will attend office. For the female staff it has been
advised to them to stay at home. Only vital/ important cases will be heard at Principal Seat
Islamabad by three benches. Moreover only cases of urgent nature will be heard at Karachi
and Lahore Branch Registries. All other cases have been delisted.

All schools, colleges, and universities and madrassa’s are shut down for meantime till 31 st
of May, 2020. Pakistan will also completely seal its western border with Afghanistan and
Iran for two weeks for both travelers and trade to prevent the spread of the pandemic
coronavirus. All Pakistani pilgrims arriving from Iran will be placed in 14-day quarantine.
Sikh shrine, will be closed for Pakistani citizens but will be opened for Indian pilgrims. They
will be allowed to visit it. To effectively screen travelers, Pakistan will allow arrival and
departure of international flights at only three airports – Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad –
with enhanced safety measures. Seaports will remain operational with increased screening
and surveillance measures.

All public gatherings and large conferences have been banned with immediate effect.
Wedding halls and cinemas will be closed. To limit the spread of Covid-19, no visitors would
be allowed in prisons for three weeks. Also, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and
provincial high courts requested the suspension of all proceedings of civil court, and asked
that no cases are scheduled for the next three weeks. Pakistan is on lockdown. Grocery
stores, all society gates etc., will open at sharp 9am and will be closed by sharp 5pm in the
evening. Playgrounds, restaurants, and malls are shut down till next announcement by the
government.

 Management’s crisis? What steps you would take if you were the PM?

Pakistan may see itself suffering in terms of lost imports, as China has been and
continues to be a major supplier of goods and services to the country. As a result of this
temporary disruption in trade, sectors such as Cable & Electrical and Auto Supply Chain may
suffer the most as they rely on various machinery, electrical goods, semiconductors, AC parts
and compressors imported from China. Last but not the least, two of the most important
Chinese gems of Pakistan, i.e. BMR and CPEC, may witness serious commotion as the
supply of major components needed for these projects may face an indefinite delay. While
Pakistan has the option of importing equipment from alternate sources, such as the EU and
the Far East, but it wouldn’t be possible without incurring significant cost overruns.

If I was the PM, I would have imposed fines and truly implemented them. So that people
can learn to stay at home. Look after themselves and others too. When following complete
lockdown, during that time the roads/ streets should be sanitized. Socio- economic class
should be educated about the virus by giving them free food. Secondly, to create more
awareness among youngsters or lower middle class the best medium is tik-tok. Through tik-
tok social distancing can be portrayed through dance for example the viral Vietnam tik-tok
dance to stay away from coronavirus and how to wash your hands. Strict actions should to be
taken against those who violate the rules. Doctors should receive advance facilities. Will
make hand gloves and masks of all sorts to be available.
