9th Sunday After Christmas Liturgical Color: Purple
“God listens to my every request with His whole heart.
I will expect the unexpected, greater than all I ask or imagine.” ~ Andrew Murray ~ Prelude Welcome and Announcements Rev. George Haugen Hymn #445 “God, How Can We Forgive”
Prayer of Confession Rev. George Haugen
Almighty God, you gave all for us in the sending of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. He humbled himself and became human, dying on the cross for our sins. We confess Lord, we are prideful. We seek to exalt ourselves, instead of humbling ourselves to serve others. We do not love, and are often motivated by selfishness and envy. We walk in darkness, instead of embracing your light. O God, have mercy on us. Forgive us, and revive us, so that we will have the mind of Christ in our lives. (Please continue in silent confession) In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon Rev. George Haugen
Leader: Jesus is our Savior! He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death on the cross for our sins. People: God raised him from the dead, and exalted him, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. In him we are forgiven and have salvation! Praise the Lord! Amen.
