In Jack Solomon’s, “Masters of Desire: The Culture of American Advertising”, he explains fantasy

advertisements. These advertisements showing us something we want to see, as Americans are

fantasizers. With this ad, we see a photo of Beyonce singing in a microphone with a fancy looking
perfume bottle by her. I believe that because they are showing a beautiful celebrity with this product,
they are trying to manipulate us into thinking that this product is very good because they have a
celebrity endorsing it. Wouldn’t we all fantasize about having a product a celebrity has? We could also
see another example that he uses for this as using body language to sell a product. Here we see Beyonce
dressed very nicely, her hair done very well, makeup, etc. The way she looks at the camera can give
consumers the illusion that she wants us to buy this product.
