Rhythm is the beat—rat-a-tat-tat. Melody is the tune—la-la-LA! Harmony is two musical sounds heard at the same time. ti( There are different styles of music for everyone to enjoy. Jazz | like jazz music. | click my fingers to the lively rhythm and hum along to the sound of the trumpet. Some jazz musicians make up the music as they play. They are very creative. 4 Swing music is a style of jazz that makes me want to dance! Swing is played by big bands with ten or more musicians making music together. There are so many instruments: guitars, drums, piano, trumpets, trombones, and saxophones. It is called swing because people “swing” to the music. Blues When some musicians feel sad or “blue,” they sing the blues. When people sing the blues, it is an expression of how they are feeling. People often play blues music on a guitar, a harmonica, or a piano. 6 "( Classical | like classical music. | listen to all the different instruments play together in the orchestra. Some classical music has been around for a very long time. | close my eyes and imagine a story that goes along with the music. "(Reggae Reggae music comes from the island of Jamaica. | tap my feet to the beat of the steel drums. | sway back and forth to the rhythm of the bass guitar. | can almost feel the ocean breezes. 8 " Country Country music comes from folk songs and cowhand songs. Whenever | hear country music, it makes me want to clap along. The banjo twangs, and the fiddle goes fast. "Rock Rock music is loud and full of energy. | like the sounds of the electric guitar and the drums. | pretend to play the guitar and sing along. 10 Performing This rock band is giving a great performance. The beat of the music is really strong! | dance and sing to the music and wave my hands in the air. li Shh. Everyone sits quietly at this singing concert. The group of performers is called a choir. Some of the singers sing low notes, and some of them sing high notes. Their voices blend to make beautiful music. 12 mi | play music, too. Sometimes | play the piano in the school concert. During each performance, | really have to concentrate. | don’t want to disappoint my friends, so | am always relieved when | give a good performance. | love it when everyone applauds, and | can’t wait to play again! li( There are lots of musical styles.
