REPORT on the 1st QUARTER IMPLEMENTATION of SLMs and ACTIVITY SHEETS


(NABUA EAST)

* Note : For the First Quarter, MOST schools in Nabua East District have printed complete SLMs per learner charged from
the school MOOE. Some schools, (especially the Nabua Central that has SLMs provision of 50% from MOOE),
printed the SLMs out of donation, solicitation and/or school’s initiative to have 1:1 ratio of SLM per learner.
* KINDER SLMs (1st Quarter) are provided by the Division Office.

CHALLENGES RELATIVE TO THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF SLMs IN THE 1st QUARTER

A. On SLMs in General

1. Some pictures are not visible


2. Watermarks of some subjects are too exposed making sentences or words
incomprehensible when photocopied
3. Pictures and maps are blurred when photocopied as black and white
4. Delivery of modules from the printing shop was delayed
5. Contextualized modules in Grades 1-3 are hard to be understood by Tagalog-speaking
pupils
6. Incomplete number of modules
7. No proper pagination in some modules which caused problems in sorting
8. Kinder modules are printed black and white produced by the Division office are less
interesting than colored ones
9. Poor quality of print outs due to lack of funds.
10. Lack of time on printing modules for distribution.
11. Unavailability of softcopy due to poor internet connection.
12. Lack of resources/ materials such as ink, printer, bond papers and stapler
13. Learners have encountered difficulty in answering and finishing all the tasks
14. The online links in Music contributed confusion on the part of parents and learners
since only few have internet connections in their homes.
15. Most of the direction or instruction are applicable for 1:1 ratio.
16. Pupil responses should be written directly on the modules.
17. Math subject should have been taught in English instead of Mother Tongue
18. Some modules are contextualized in Nabuanun although they were not a Mother
Tongue subject.
19. Incorrect/misleading answers in key to correction. Some have no attached key to
correction.
20. Some words were misunderstood by the learners in the contextualized modules
because the teacher-contextualizers came from other municipalities.
21. Blurred pictures because of the watermark at the center of every page.
22. Printed modules are blurred especially those pictures printed in black and white.
23. Learners find difficulty in recognizing too dark or pixilated pictures

24. Some activities in the modules are not suited for slow/struggling learners.
25. Poor quality of reproduced SLMs.
26. Some words in the paragraph are not visible or readable.
27. There are missing pages in the SLMs.
28. There are learners who cannot understand Nabuanon.
29. Some SLMs returned unanswered
30. Activities in the modules were unfinished/ unanswered due to:
a. plenty of activities
b. distraction/ noise from community/neighbor
c. household disturbances
d. uncontrolled used of gadgets
e. household chores
31. There are too many redundant activities that the children find them more difficult to
answer
32. Some SLM’s have errors in the content and in the key to correction.
33. Other subjects have more 2 or more SLM’s per week. They feel exhausted to answer
and complete it in a week.
34. Experiment in Science is too expensive and not available at home.
35. Contextualized modules in Mathematics 2 is in Baao Dialect and there are errors
36. SLM’s in Araling Panlipunan 2 are too long/many activities and they lost interest to
answer them.
37. Modules were exposed to many persons
38. Prone to copying of answers of Activities in the SLMs
39. Print outs for Kindergarten and primary grade levels must be colored
40. Some SLMs were returned unanswered
41. Self Learning Modules in MTB and Araling Panlipunan are too long/many activities
42. Using Modular learning system is better than face to face because it saves money for
transportation and baon, school supplies and uniform.
43. Modules are good and easy to use because it is complete and provided all the learnings
for the certain lesson.
44. Science activities suggested are not properly followed due to unavailability of materials
at home.
45. Mathematics 2 must be contextualized in Nabuanon not in Baao dialect.
46. SLM’s in Araling Panlipunan 2 are too long hence learners lose interest.
47. There should be proper lay outing especially in Matching Type. Matching type should
be in one page only.
48. Expected performance task were not fully accomplished at home.
49. Other subjects have more than 2 SLM’s per week. They feel exhausted to answer and
complete it in a week.
50. No internet connections to open the suggested link in the modules.
51. Some modules were destroyed by typhoons

B. on PARENTS’ CHALLENGES

1. Some parents are not knowledgeable to facilitate the home based learning
2. Some parents were having difficulty teaching/ sharing the lessons to their children on
subjects that they were not interested in.
3. Some parents were complaining that they lack training to teach different subjects. So,
they find difficulty in teaching their children.
4. Parents have difficulty to teach their children because of lack of education.
5. Working Parents have no time to supervise and monitor the development of their child
in answering the modules
6. Parents have difficulty in uploading the performance of their child over the Messenger.
7. They are the ones who answer the modules just to finish it on time.
8. Not all parents understand the SLMs
9. Parents have difficulty to teach their children because of lack of education.
10. Some parents are the ones who answer the modules just to finish it on time.
11. Time conflict with working parents.
12. Poor time management dealing the classes’ schedule.
13. They are obliged to teach their children.
14. They have difficulties in understanding the Mother Tongue.
15. They need to study also the lesson.
16. They want face to face because their child wants the teacher will teach them.

17. They found it difficult to claim and retrieve the SLMs from school to their houses
because there are no older member of the family that will take care or look into their
kids while getting the SLMs at school. Some are solo parents living with their children.
18. Some parents are not following the time table in claiming and returning of modules.
19. Some parents are not patient enough in guiding their children in modular learning.
20. Retrieval of modules of some parents since the 3 typhoons devastated the place (Nabua
East District, in particular)
21. As a senior citizen, she has the privilege of going to school as needed only.

C. on LEARNERS’ CHALLENGES

1. Learning environment is not conducive for learning due to distractions like noise.
2. Children are not following the parents.
3. Children are tempted to play rather than to finish the activities in the SLM’s.
4. Learners just copy only the answers in the SLM’s without understanding the concepts
5. Some children did not answer all the activities in the modules and cannot learn well
because they cannot explain the concepts properly.
6. Incorrect/incomplete answers due to reading demand which is a barrier to learners
with low reading abilities.
7. Pupils are not listening to their parents because they are not their real teacher.

D. on TEACHERS’ CHALLENGES

1. Teachers are in doubt in the result of the summative test. Some responses were
answered by the parents. It will affect the validity of the result of the test.
2. Teachers are not able to assess the actual performance of the learners.
3. Printing is costly.
4. Teachers spend more time in printing the SLM’s.
5. Lessons are not suited for slow learners.
6. Teachers met the challenges on the lack of materials to be used like bond papers, ink
and printers to be used in the reproduction
7. Too tasking on the part of the teachers
8. Time consuming in printing the SLMs
9. Teachers don’t know if the modules are answered by the pupils. Learners just copy
only the answers in the SLM’s without understanding the concepts
10. Teachers are not sure of the dedication of parents in teaching their children
11. Teachers are not able to assess the actual performance of the learners.
12. Lack of printing materials but teachers still need to be resources to be able to comply
the needed module for the week
13. Teachers spend more time in printing the SLM’s.

OPPORTUNITIES RELATIVE TO THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF SLMs IN THE 2 nd QUARTER

1. The modules contained the most essential learning competencies


2. Modules are well-prepared and clean
3. Modules are well-organized and contents are interesting
4. Complete number of modules in Grade 6
5. Improvement in preparing activity sheets in terms of level of difficulty of the items
based on pupil’s capabilities.
6. Teachers can prepare activity sheets based from the needs of their learners.
7. Teachers are given the opportunities to explore the DepEd commons, LRMDS and
other on line sources for developing activity sheets.
8. Teachers enhance their knowledge writing skills in developing activity sheets.

9. Since the teachers have undergone training on strategies for new normal teaching such
as ICT and on line platforms for education so they have the skills to develop/prepare
more activities online for every subject.
10. Teachers will be given an opportunities to browse and make necessary adjustment of
the activities based on the Most Essential Learning of Competencies (MELCs)
11. Provide enrichment activities for fast learners
12. They have ample time to answer the activities because they have it for one week.
13. They serve as supplementary materials since the activities in the activity sheets given
to the learners are in line with the learning competencies.
14. There is continuity of learning among learners.
15. Activity sheets can be utilized during free time of the learners.
16. They serve as additional input to their learning.
17. They give also opportunity for a learning-bonding time between parents and learners.
18. Through the use of answer sheets, the learners are motivated to work without the
assistance of teacher.
19. The best way to recap what is learned by the learners in the SLM’s.
20. It will encourage the learners to remember what they learned in the SLM’s.
21. They can be used by slow learners in mastering their unmastered competencies.
22. They provide valuable feedbacks about the learning of the learners.
23. They can be used as a tool to address the learners’ needs.
24. Activity sheets will serve as foundation on what the teachers want their learners to
learn.
25. Strategies were developed among the teachers in designing activity sheets
26. Widens teacher’s knowledge in developing activities for the learners
27. Each teacher focuses on accomplishing the activity sheets for the quarter
28. Teachers have undergone training how to develop activity sheets for the quarter
29. Teachers developed activity sheets according to the learning level of their learners.
30. Teachers can search for online for their activity sheets applicable to their own class.
31. Teachers become resourceful and innovative to cope up with the needs of the
32. pupils in the new normal education system during the first quarter.
33. Activity sheets serve as an additional materials for their learning and can be utilized
during free time of the learners and on what the teachers want their learners to learn
and can be used as a tool to address the learners needs.
34. Parents and learners build bonding moment/time.
35. Parents unlock sibling’s capability.
36. They discovered weaknesses and strengths dealing with all the subjects.
37. Tap some generous persons/individuals for SLM’s printing.
38. Supplied materials for printing SLMs from school MOOE.
39. Established good rapports between the school Teaching Staff and LGU/stakeholders
through this modular learning modality.
40. Supplied bondpapers from EDUCO and other stakeholders.
41. They give opportunity for a learning bonding time between parents and learners.
42. Activity sheets will serve as foundation on what the teachers want their learners to
learn.
43. They can be used by slow learners in mastering their mastered competencies.
44. Through the use of answer sheets the learners are motivated to work without the
assistance of teachers.
45. They serve as supplementary materials since the activities in the activity sheets given
