The AECT standards are the guidelines to follow when using the ADDIE Model to develop

instruction. As an educational design professional the ADDIE framework and AECT standards
are guiding principles and are critical for curriculum and instruction design. The ADDIE
principles serve as the core phases of the design and the AECT are the supporting knowledge
areas to complete the ADDIE design model. The ADDIE framework and AECT can currently be
used to design training and development including the AECT standards. As far as my current
profession, I currently used project management methodologies when completing projects and
tasks. I can however implement the ADDIE framework and AECT standards when designing
corporate and software application training programs. The ADDIE framework and AECT
standards remind me of the framework for developing lesson plans. The lesson plan template
compares to the ADDIE framework and the standards and scans would compare to the AECT
standards that are included when developing the plan. As I have developed lesson plans in the
past I understand how lesson plans are an output or resulting component from the ADDIE
framework and AECT standards. In summary, ADDIE is the framework and the AECT is the
supporting structure that substantiates the framework. The combination of the two results in a
complete ISD model with the supporting AECT structure.
