Light Source Parallel to the Picture Plane

Step by step procedure in creating shades and shadows for roof eaves.

1. Draw a 45 degree line

2. Draw a construction line; this is not part of the object

3. Draw a construction line from VPR (vanishing point right)

4. Draw a horizontal line until it intersects with the wall

5. Draw a vertical line until it intersects with line 1, from this intersection you will be able to draw line 6

6. Draw a line from the intersection of line 5 and line 6 to the inner corner of the roof eave.

7. Draw a line from VPL

8. Draw a 45 degree line until it intersects with line 7

9. Draw a line from the intersection of line 7 and line 8 to the upper corner of the roof eave.

Line 6, 7 and 9 is now the shadow of the roof eave cast on the wall.
