2020 Football in a nutshell

2020 has been quite a year. It has been a strange year not only for football but for the entire world. In
the midst of a global pandemic, there have been numerous ups and downs this year. However, on the
whole, it has certainly not been the year we were all expecting or even hoping for.

The game that we love is not what it used to be and will not be the same until the fans are back. After
all, it has been a strange year. So, let’s take a look at some of the events that defined football this
year.

The Bad
Well, there have been quite a few low points this year. After all, we are going through testing times
as an entire community.

The loss of so many former players, the emptiness in footballing hearts and in the stadiums and
shocking results the list of unfortunate events is endless.

Depending on who you support and how your team has performed, the pandemic has undeniably had
an impact on football.

The Good
Let’s be honest, we don’t want to talk too much about the bad stuff, do we?

We have already suffered enough this year, so, let’s look on the brighter side.

This was the year of the baton being passed on to the next generation of football superstars. We saw
the rise of Haaland, Gio Reyna, Ansu Fati, Pedri, Bellingham and so many more future stars.

The fans may not have been there but we got to see some fascinating results. Be it Villa putting seven
past Liverpool or Bayern demolishing everyone. And you could say that in a way, it was the football
that kept us afloat during the tough times.

We have also seen great acts off the field. Marcus Rashford showed the world the value of humanity
and that football truly transcends just the game on the field.

Looking Forward
This is definitely not the year we want. But, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

We hope that 2021 is a year we get back to enjoy what we love the most.
