Listen to Chopin in the park

The statue of Frédéric Chopin is the most magnificent monument in Warsaw. It can be found
under the weeping willow in the rose garden of Royal Baths Park, which had been designed
in order to improve the display. The statue was built by Wacław Szymanowski in 1909 as a
memorial of Chopin’s hundredth birth anniversary. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be placed in the
park until 1926. Completely destroyed by Germans in the Second World War, the monument
was reconstructed in 1958. Nowadays, the visitors can enjoy exterior Chopin’s recitals on
every Sunday during the period from May to September. You cannot miss this. Admission
free.
The Royal Baths Park itself is the most charming place in Warsaw. The whole place
occupies 80 acres of the centre district. Built as the royal summer residence throughout the
seventeenth and the eighteenth century, the park is full of classicistic monuments.
Unfortunately, it is not a place for cycling, rollerblading or a walk with dogs. It is not even
allowed to sit on grass there. Nonetheless, those restrictions do not stop crowds of tourists
from numerous visits. For that reason, we would rather recommend the nearest and less
crowded Botanic Park.
