Today I would like to talk about types of homework.

I believe, this topic is really interesting and

important. Also, I am given a chart, which got my eye, because it gives a lot of information about how
many hours per week students spend on homework. According to data, the biggest percent – 56 of
responses said, that they usually spend about 10-15 hours per week, while 10 percent of students spend
less than 5 hours. Furthermore, 10 percent of responses spend more than 15 hours.
I usually spend about 2,5-3 hours on homework every day. I spend most of my time studying
mathematics and reading scholarly literature. I believe, that mechanical proficiency in math is
important because much of where you will use the math you learn is in time critical situations — tests,
homework that’s due the next day. As you know, the Lithuanian language is one of the most difficult,
so I spend a lot of time reading literature. For me, sometimes it is difficult to understand some old
words in books.
In my opinion, it is more useful to do homework with a friend. This is a very logical way of thinking
as, according to the saying, “Two heads are better than one.” If there is something that you are
struggling with, then perhaps a friend could help you and will understand better about the subject than
you do. Essentially, using the assistance of someone else can help to improve the quality of your work,
you will find work easier and quicker to do and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
For me, the most interesting and useful homework task is visiting museums and art galleries. Museums
provide an effective way of learning, teach critical thinking, empathy, and other generally important
skills and dispositions.
To sum up, homework is as important as the lessons at school, because it reinforces and helps students
to retain information taught in the classroom as well as increasing their general understanding of the
language. Research shows that homework also benefits factual knowledge, self-discipline, attitudes to
learning, and problem-solving skills.
