Dear Mr António Guterres 

 

I have the honor to address you through these lines. I would like to draw Your attention to the
impact that technologies have had on the environment. I think that we are currently living in a
period of rapid change, where technological development has revolutionized the way we live. At
the same time from My point of view, I can say that these technological advances have led us to
have problems such as climate change and the scarcity of resources because we have not
implemented them properly.

I believe that environmental problems have mainly occurred due to human activities such as
agriculture, mining, water use and the consumption of fossil fuels, all of which have been made
possible by technological advances. In my opinion another problem that has affected us is air
pollution, this occurs when excessive or harmful amounts of gases such as carbon dioxide,
monoxide are introduced into the earth's atmosphere due to technological advances and industrial
development.

If current development trends continue, I believe that global warming will cause disastrous
consequences for humanity such as droughts, hurricanes, hunger, poverty and destruction.
Likewise, I believe that soil degradation is leading the planet towards a massive extinction of
species and would be causing negative impacts on the well-being of millions of people and plant
and animal species. Land degradation, loss of biodiversity and climate change are three
immediate consequences that we will have if we do not make good use of technological
advances.

I believe that there are many actions to be taken, and in this both Governments and communities
play a decisive role in protecting biodiversity and ecosystem services vital to all life on Earth.In
my opinion, Man could use technology in favor of the environment. The latter would imply
using technological resources responsibly, recycling materials, using renewable energy and other
practices that contribute to conserving our natural resources.

Climate change and the deterioration of the environment are a global problem that requires a
global solution, for this reason I make a respectful invitation to the United Nations so that they
can implement actions such as the execution of its program `PNUMA` that has the task of
elaborating international and national environmental instruments; and strengthen the institutions
for the rational management of the environment. The United Nations must work to help solve
environmental problems around the world.
