There are controversial arguments on whether team sports or individual sports
benefit more to players. Albeit we derive various merits from playing
individually, I am inclined to believe team sports are more advantageous. Solo sports are believed to have both positive and negative impacts on players. Firstly, it is clear that one-player sport enables participants to enjoy all the success and fame. Their progressive efforts will be known and recognized under their own name. A brilliant role model of tennis-fanatics, Roger Federer, is a classic example for one who achieves huge success and receives tremendous societal recognition on behalf of an individual tennis player. Furthermore, training and competing personally can foster the independence of each player. Apparently, it takes a lot of self-discipline to go jogging in the winter, so they have to arrange the time and determine strategies by themselves. Nevertheless, the failure of conquering the dispiritedness and the feeling of loneliness is an extremely serious trouble that most people have suffered in this type of sports. Therefore, if they can not solve this issue, giving up or quitting is inevitable. While each kind of sports is associated with certain good points, I am of the opinion that team sports are more advantageous. On the one hand, there is no doubt that playing in a team requires each member to enhance team work skills. Especially in football, a sport which is renown as “the king”, there are at least 11 different people with various opinions. They have to learn how to reconcile conflicts and cooperate to find out the balance “rhythm” and the effectiveness in strategy to achieve shared goals. On the other hand, during the time practicing together as a close-knit family, they receive not only support, encouragement but also inspiration from fellow players. It is essential to keep the fire and stay motivated among members. As a consequence, excellent bonds will be created and their social connection will be broadened. In conclusion, each type of sports has its own pros and cons. Though I admit the indispensable role os individual sports in the development of a sense of achievement and independence, I am still convinced that it is more beneficial to play team sports since players can enhance team work skills and stay motivated.
