Deflasking :
 Is the removal of the mold from the flask and separates the denture
and the cast from the mold(divesting)

 Equipments that used in this procedure :-


1. knife blade
2. plastic mallet
3. flask ejector
4. two chisels
5. acrylic bur

 Steps of deflasking
1. Remove the flask from the clamp.
2. Remove the upper and lower lids.
3. Separate the 2 parts of the flask with attention using the plaster knife.
4. Liberate the denture with its model, then try to remove the model
carefully. If there is undercut, split the model into 2 or 3 parts to remove
them easily.
5. After gaining the denture, remove the excess of acrylic using the acrylic
bur.

After you start you have to make sure that the flask is cooled to room
temperature.
 The prosedure of deflasking :

1. Remove the lid from the flask that containing denture.

2. place the flask bottom side up in the flask ejector and tighten
thumbscrew until it contacts the bottom plate
3. place the pry bars through the slots in the side of flask ejector and
engage the slots in the flask between both halves of the flask
4. with pry bars engage pry down on them to separate bottom half of
flask and then pry up these movements readily separate the flask
from the stone enclosed denture
5. tap back of knife blade with plastic mallet to separate the stone cap
6. separating medium properly applied facilities separation of stone
cap exposing cusp tips of denture teeth
7. with a saw cut through the stone that encloses the denture opposite
the central incisor teeth
8. additional daw cuts are made at distobuccal corners of flasked
denture

9. so that the stone enclosing the denture has three cuts


10. place a knife in the anterior saw cut and pry gently to separate the
stone from buccal and anterior flanges of the denture
11. investing stone is removed except around the base of the cast
12. protect denture teeth with hand before tapping away remaining
stone
13. clean out the index grooves on the base of the cast this cleaning
makes it possible to position the cast accurately on the mounting
stone for correction of processing error
14. after recovery from the stone the denture is ready to remounting on
the articulator.

 Errors of deflasking:

Improper deflasking as used the hammer for knocking the flask may lead
to cracked or fracture of the denture base or the teeth
