Abstract

“​Ever heard of a wheatstone bridge?! We are sure you must have! Our current solution to the
problem proposed is based on this only!!!!!!” ​Before diving into the solution, let's analyse
the current situation...
The year 2020 has been a stumbling block in many industries.​ Businesses across every sector have
sensed the backlash of COVID-19, start-ups have particularly been one of the most vulnerable. Most
start-ups have witnessed a decline in supply-of raw materials and sharp drop in the customers and
investors. ​Strong global concerns about the pandemic coronavirus and the unpredictability of future
health and hygiene has largely ,also negatively influenced the global functioning of the food &
beverage industry and the mindset of consumers, given the health risks.
One such startup-​ WOW! MOMO​ started ​ in 2008, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India by classmates
Sagar Daryani and Binod Kumar Homagai with a little investment of 30,000Rs and has grown up to a
net worth of 860 crore Rs​. WOW! MOMO has over 200 outlets across 13 cities in INDIA as of 2018
data. But like any other food and beverage startup, the impact of COVID-19 was no less than a shock
wave to the company.
From 16 crore sales in February to 2 crore in April and 5.5 crore in June, the lockdown has hindered
the main operations. Even after the lockdown fully lifted only one-third of its business is recovered so
far. And last but not least WOW! MOMO plans to shut about 25-30 outlets across the country by
September stating that-”​Operating these Restaurants will not be viable even after the lockdown
is lifted completely.”​ ​CEO & Co-Founder of Wow! Momo - Sagar Daryani also focused on the fact
that the new strategy that has to be proposed should include effective deliveries and takeaway ideas
so that it can be easily adapted to the new normal. They have planned to open 200 more outlets in
the next two years through partnerships and existing cash reserves.Our strategy focuses on a ​drive
thru Wow! Momo outlet​. Currently 90% of revenues are coming from takeaways and deliveries
since dining restaurants are disrupted. Drive Thru restaurants business has zoomed over 400%
during covid-19 pandemic. Benefits of typical drive thru are:
​1)​It's convenient for customers ( no more waiting in a crowd) ​.2)​Increase capacity by serving more
customers and faster transactions. As well as New delivery and revenue streams. ​3)​And finally are
pandemic friendly by keeping physical contact to a minimum extent.
The main disadvantage while building a drive thru is the cost required in building which is typically
more than 50% of investment .To tackle this, we are introducing ​WHEATSTONE BRIDGE DRIVE
THRU…….​Ever been to temple Durgakund near BHU? Google Maps will be handy to understand
this. Notice the lane starting from Tiraha near Durgakund pond till padmashree Chauraha. Using
practical experiences as well as Google Maps we can find out this is a very light traffic route.
Ironically the two roads Durgakund road and Ravindrapuri road are the heaviest traffic routes owing
to the rich market, abundant customers ,tour places around this area. This lane of light traffic AB
between two heavy traffic is equivalent to the null current wire of a wheatstone bridge. The two heavy
traffic roads meet at Vijaya Chauraha and Lanka crossing to complete the equivalent circuit.
Our plan is to use AB as a drive through: A can serve as the order counter and B as the pick up
counter. The area around A is a rich market, it is the hub of IIT- PMT coachings, flocked with hostels,
lodgings, the chain of temples draws tourists throughout the year and its proximity to Lanka and BHU
makes that spot always filled with hubbub .The ride from A to B is of only one minute, the profit
derived by NOT building an actual drive thru , avoiding crowd, speedy deliveries, hereby creating the
new pandemic friendly environment to lure customers will be quite big .
This might seem like an exceptional case but if we observe , this model is applicable to almost all the
cities around the country .The only task is to locate a customer-rich WHEATSTONE BRIDGE DRIVE
THRU.
