Adolescence is a distinct, yet transient, period of development between childhood and adulthood

characterized by increased experimentation and risk-taking, a tendency to discount long-term

consequences, and heightened sensitivity to peers and other social influences. A key function of
adolescence is developing an integrated sense of self, including individualization, separation from
parents, and personal identity. Experimentation and novelty-seeking behavior, such as alcohol and
drug use, unsafe sex, and reckless driving, are thought to serve a number of adaptive functions
despite their risks.

Brain remodeling happens intensively during adolescence, continuing into your child's mid-20s.
Some brain changes happen before puberty, and some continue long after. Brain change depends on
age, experience and hormonal changes in puberty. So even though all teenagers' brains develop in
roughly the same way at the same time, there are differences among individual teenagers. So, by
knowing this, there needs to be a revisiting of the age of conviction. There is a different set age of
every country on when a person can be admitted to the prison from a criminal or civil act.

More facilities for rehabilitation programs should be available. A thorough assessment should be
done to come up with a fit intervention for each juvenile delinquent.  By doing this, we are not
tolerating what they did, but we give them a chance to be better with our programs and guide the
"misguided" child.  However, this is easy said than done. Therefore, authorities as well as social
services should work hand in hand to come up with a solid decision and intervention while still
upholding whatever the law states.
