1. One kg of water at a temperature of 80°C changed into one kg of water vapor at temperature
of 100°C! (Specific heat of water is 4.200 J/kg°C and heat of vaporization of water is 2.270
kJ/kg). Determine:
a. The graph of the water changes to water vapor.
b. Heat required for raising the temperature of water from 80°C to 100° C.
c. Heat required for changing the whole water into water vapor.
d. Total heat required to change 1 kg of water at a temperature of 80°C into 1 kg of water
vapor at temperature of 100°C.

2. Look at picture below

If the object moved 10 cm further from the fulcrum, analyze what should we do in order to
make the system in balance position.

3. A glass plate measures 100 meters long and 75 meters wide at 23°C. (α = 0,32 x 10-5/°C)
Determine:
a. The initial area.
b. The value of area expansion coefficient (β).
c. The additional area if the temperature increases into 88°C.
d. Its final area after thermal expansion.

4. Answer the following questions

a. Look at picture below.

If the fulcrum move 15 cm further from the object. Count the force at the second
condition.

b. There are two lever system.

The first lever system has object’s weight 480 N. The length from object to the fulcrum
is 40 cm. The length of force place to the fulcrum is 160 cm. The second lever system

1
has object’s weight 480 N. The length from object to the fulcrum is 80 cm. The length
of force place to the fulcrum is 120 cm.

Prove that the comparison of Force on the first lever system : Force on the second lever
system is 3 : 8.

5. When making a hot drink, steam at 100oC is added to 160 g of milk at 20oC. If the final
temperature of the drink is to be 70oC, (ignore energy losses to the surroundings). Bayu had
answered the mass of the steam. Reconstruct the answer of Bayu and create the graph
of the change of temperature.

Cmilk = 3.9 x 103 J J kg-1 K-1

Cwater = 4.18 x 103 J kg-1 K-1
Chot drink = 4.05 x 103 J kg-1 K-1
Specificlatent heat of vaporization of water = 2.34 x 106 J kg-1

Bayu’s Answer:

Q release = Q receive

mmilk . cmilk . ∆T = msteam . csteam . ∆T

160 . 3,9 x 103 . (70-20) = msteam . 4.18 x 103. (100-70)

624 g x 103 . 50 = msteam .125.4 x 103

31.200 x 103 = msteam .125.4 x 103

31.200 𝑥103
msteam = 125.4 𝑥103

msteam = 248,8 g
