LCD Displays
ln time,tlie cimera'slCD paheldisplayandthe LCDdisplayin the
viewfindermayfade and becomedifficultto read.lf this happens,haveit
replaced(at cost)by a CanonServiceCenter.
At low temperatures,the LCDdisplayresponsemay becomeslower.And
at 60'C or highertemperatures,the displaymayblacken.ln eithercase,
the displaywillreturnto normalat roomtemperature.

Lithium Batteries
(1) The cameraoperateson two CR123A(or DL123A)lithiumbatteries.
Checkthe batterylevelin the followingcases(-+page16):
. Afterreplacingthe batteries.
. Afternot usingthe camerafor an extendedperiod.
. The shutterstopsworking.
. Thecamerais beingusedin a low-temperature environment.
. You will be shootingan importantevent.
(2) Beforeinstalling the batteries,wipethe batterycontactsto removeany
fingerprintsand smudges.This is to preventfaultyconnections and
corrosion.
(3) Neverdisassemble or rechargethe batteries.Also,neverstorea
batteryin high.temperature placesor shortcircuitthe batterycontacts
or tossa batteryintoa fire.
(4) Althoughthe batteriesworkwellevenat lowtemperatures, battery
performance maydeclineslightlyat freezingtemperatures. In sucha
case,keepsparebatterieswarm in a pocket,etc.,and use and warm
the batteriesalternately.

Remove the caps.

camera body cap.
Mount the lens.

switch to <AF>.

Remove the front lens cap.

Detachingthe Lens
While pressingthe lens release
button, turn the lens as shown by
the arrow.

How the ShutterButtonWorks
The EOS camera'sshutterbuttoncan be depressedhalfwayor all the way.
There is a click stop at the halfwaypoint.

Pressing the Shutter Button Halfway or Completely


The shutterbuttonworks as describedbelow.

When it is pressed halfway:


. Autofocusingis activated,and when
focus is achieved,the beepersounds
and the in-focusindicator< O > on the
viewfinder'slower rightalso lights.
. Also, the shutterspeed and aperture
are set and displayedon the LCD

Camera shake can cause blurred pictures.To prevent blurred picturesdue to

' Use the center of your finger to touch the shutter button,grasp the camera with
your entire right hand, then press the shutter button gently.
