Indonesia's Natural Tourism Potential Through Halal Tourism in West Nusa Tenggara
West Nusa Tenggara is ready to be the leader as the flagship for the world's Muslim tourists.
The biggest desire of the local government is to defeat Malaysia, which has been a favorite
destination for tourists with its halal tourism concept. Currently, West Nusa Tenggara is
actively building a Special Economic Zone in Mandalika, Central Lombok which is
processed into a leading halal tourism area. While other tourist attractions are being directed
to halal tourist destinations.
In 2016, West Nusa Tenggara was able to win two world-class awards at the World Halal
Travel Award 2016 held in Abu Dhabi. The three awards are World's Best Halal Beach
Resort – Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, and
World's Best Halal Honeymoon Destination – Sembalun Village Region, Lombok, West
Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This further strengthens the appeal of tourists, especially Muslims
who crave Halal Tourism services.

West Nusa Tenggara together with two other provinces, Aceh and North Sumatra was
proclaimed by the central government as the driver of halal tourism in Indonesia. Lombok as
one of the eco-tourism development in West Nusa Tenggara. In addition, Lombok also
continues to develop Halal Tourism in order to maintain the top 3 World Halal Tourism
Destinations.
The victory achieved by West Nusa Tenggara became an extraordinary opportunity for
Indonesia to take the opportunity from the hands of Malaysia, which has been the node of
world halal tourism. West Nusa Tenggara with a Muslim community population of 95
percent, the area known as the area of a thousand mosques is a very strong basic capital. This
is one of the strong potentials to increase Halal Tourism to be the best in West Nusa
Tenggara.
Various preparations are made to strengthen branding as an area with the best halal tourist
destinations. In terms of regulation, West Nusa Tenggara has raised the status of the
Governor's Regulation on Halal Tourism to a Regional Regulation in order to politically and
policyly support each other. Not only that, from all elements of government from the
executive, judiciary and legislature run in unidirectional and synergistic for better west Nusa
Tenggara tourism.
