Letter To Concerned Parent
Letter To Concerned Parent
Hi ------,
------ is an absolute joy to interact with. He is definitely an anchor for the class--even as far away
as Florida.
I understand the start of this quarter is not characteristic for ------. I want to reassure him (and
you!) that he has plenty of opportunity to rediscover the momentum he created in the first
semester of this year.
1) I re-opened the quiz on Harriet Tubman for ------. He missed questions 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10,
so he should take particular care with those questions. Please have ------ email me when
he has re-submitted the quiz so that I can update his grade as needed.
2) From Week 2 ------ has a graphic organizer to complete comparing/contrasting the
excerpt on Harriet Tubman to the folk tale “The People Could Fly.” The graphic organizer
is available in the Week 2 module of MyMCPS. Please have ------ make sure he clicks to
submit it when it is complete. I look forward to giving him feedback on his submission!
3) From this week ------ has a graphic organizer to complete on Mother Jones’s “Letter to
Roosevelt.” The graphic organizer is available in the Week 3 module of MyMCPS.
Please have ------ make sure he clicks to submit when it is complete. I look forward to his
submission!
The breakout rooms are an ongoing trial-and-error with students. In just my first several weeks
at Hoover I can see how the challenges of engagement during remote learning are accentuated
in the breakout room experience. I will continue to modify breakout room activities and
organization to try to find the sweet spot. ------’s sensitivity to the breakout room experience
shows me that he “gets it”!
Please let me know if you have additional questions. And safe travels home!
