Flip Your Thinking

The  first  step  to  flipping  your  learning  environment  is  to  identify  the  current  one  that  you  create  for
your  students.    With  each  of  the  following  questions,  mark  on  the  spectrum  where  your  class  falls.

1. How  often  is  my  content  differentiated?

Daily Weekly Bi-Weekly Monthly
2. How  often  do  I  empower  students  by  giving  them  choices  in  how  they  digest  the  content?

4. How  often  are  my  students  operating  at  the  higher  levels  of  Bloom’s  Taxonomy
(Analyzing,  Evaluating,  and  Creating)  within  my  classroom?

3. How  often  do  my  activities  allow  for  students  to  make  informational  judgments  or
decisions?

The  following  spectrum  is  Harris  &  Hofer’s  (2009)  Eight  Corresponding  Criteria.  Place  an  X  on  the
line  where  you  feel  your  class  falls.
