How do you know this person She was my teacher during B.Ed. course.
Part 2
1. How do you like to spend your free time?
During my free time I usually do some activities such as reading, sketching, teaching my sister and
my nephews. Apart from that I sometimes go on jogging or on a stroll with my friend. I feel that a
healthy body leads to healthy thoughts as well.
There are many. To quote few, it includes my admission in B.Ed. course in India’s most prestigious
institute, CIE, where I came across some extremely talented and motivated people.
Apart from that the duration of few years after my father’s demise were difficult. I learned to work
hard despite any odds.
b. Honesty with the job. During my B.Ed. internship, I never entered into the class ill prepared. I
put my best efforts in planning and developing the flow of the lesson. During my job with J&J I
travelled many places and worked for long hours to beat the deadlines.
c. Perseverance. During my B.Ed. internship, I was assigned two classes of 52 students and 44
students. Most of them were struggling with Mathematics initially. I remained faithful and
optimistic throughout the program. It was immensely pleasurable for me when at the end they
performed well in Achievement-Test-Report.
4. What qualities have you admired in other people that you do not possess?
a. Work-life balance. During my job with Johnson and Johnson, I struggled to maintain a healthy
work life balance. Could not give enough time to my family and friends.
5. Have you changed in any way in the last five years? In what way?
Yes I have felt positive changes inside me during last five years. I have developed more patience
and optimism. I have felt that one should invest his/her time and energy wisely and should seek for
larger goals in life.
Apart from this, I have improved my reading habit. I read more often than before.
8. Which past work experience did you enjoy the most? Why?
My internship in the school during B.Ed. course as during that phase I learned to handle a class
with large group size. I was able to get hands on experience with what I had read and taught at my
alma mater.
9. Do you believe in-service teachers training in the school is important for the school and
teachers development?
Undoubtedly it is imperative. In-service teachers training helps an employee to polish his/her skills.
It helps a teacher to get in line with latest technologies and pedagogic tools. Teachers get
awareness, time and again, about different ideas, perspectives and demands required for their job.
For schools, these trainings help in maintaining the quality and effectiveness in their teachers’
pedagogy.
Do you think you can commit yourself to teachers training and self-development on two
Saturdays / one Saturday per month? ( We are a five day school for children)
I would be more than happy to be a part of teachers’ training and self-development.
Yes I am comfortable working/attending trainings on Saturdays.
10. Which activity in the school would you like to be part of other than your specific subject /
role?
a. Painting & Sketching
b. Cricket & Athletics
11. Why do you wish to be part of the Shiv Nadar School team?
Shiv Nadar School’s tag line “Education for life” resembles with John Dewey’s thoughts i.e.,
“Education is not preparation for life but life itself”. It does not see education as a separate identity. As a
progressive school, I get an impression that SNS must be focusing on the overall development of
children and not merely stick with the scores of its students. “Education for life” focuses on inculcating
tools to become life-long-learners is one of the goals of education.
12. Please write a short note on what you like about children and being a teacher?
Teaching works on the premise that the young person makes progress in the company of a
teacher. This excites me. No matter what, there is some progress. This idea makes it possible for
the teacher also to grow. This is one of the few professions where the teacher grows along with the
learner.
My philosophy of life revolves around one sentence. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
With the passage of time this unyielding trait inside me is getting reinforced.
I was born and brought up in an urban city of India. My family comprised of 4 sisters and my parents.
Father was the only earning member and being extravagant was never an option for us. My parents
could not attend college but they always emphasized over our education. Both my mother and father
always faced life’s challenges head on. The influence of which planted the seeds of fighting spirit inside
me. Despite these hindrances I managed to score distinction in 5 of the 6 subjects in my high school
examinations.
I am an inquisitive person. While in school, I participated in yoga competitions, several drawing &
painting competitions, was selected unanimously the captain of school’s football and cricket team. Also I
served as class representative for entire schooling. But life does not let anyone prepare for the
uncertainties.
I lost my father when I was in the first year of my college. It was a very difficult time. I recollected
myself and started giving tuitions to the children. Subsequently I ended up completing my degree in
science with first division from one of the most reputed universities in India. I also completed a diploma in
railway engineering through part time mode. Later I joined a CFA (clearing and forwarding agent)
company associated with Johnson & Johnson as a Quality Assurance site lead. I used to supervise 7
warehouses of J&J located in different parts of northern India. Out of the total 4 site leads in India, I was
the youngest. I served for 3 years in this company.
To sum up, right now I am engaged into academics again. About to complete my Bachelor in Education
(in July 2019) from CIE, University of Delhi. Looking forward to teach students and learn from those
experiences.
