*What is cupping?

-It is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special
cups on your skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood
flow
*Origin -
It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures and the
practice dates from as early as 3000 BC
What are the different types of cupping?
Fire cupping
-involves soaking a cotton ball in almost pure alcohol. -The fire uses up all the
oxygen in the cup which creates a negative pressure inside the cup. The cup is
then quickly placed onto the body and the negative pressure "sucks" the skin up
Wet cupping
-Leaving a cup in place for about 3 minutes. then removes the cup and uses a
small scalpel to make light, tiny cuts on your skin. Next, the therapist does a
second suction to draw out a small quantity of blood ( gửiảnhsau)
Dry cupping
Involves creating a small area of low air pressure next to the skin to create a
vacuum This vacuum lift helps to increase in blood flow and induces a stretch
effect, which results in a reduction in muscle tension and associated pain. Before
performing dry cupping, the therapist might apply herbal oils or creams on the
skin, especially if the treatment is to be combined with gliding cupping, a form of
massage therapy
*Benefits
-Helps relieve inflame, disperse congestion, kill pain and circulate blood. Firstly,
cupping therapy is used to suck the pus from pimples. From the viewpoint of
Eastern therapy, due to the heat and attraction, cupping therapy is usually for
many diseases caused by chilliness, such as: stomachache, backage,... Besides,
cupping therapy can help lose weight. Under the effect of heat and attraction of
vacuum, it help increasingly converse and analyze fat in our body. In recent day,
cupping therapy is regarded as a relax method
*Side effects
• Bruises (this is the most visible effect)
• Soreness/discomfort. • Burns (caused by hot cups)
• Skin infections.
*Warning: Precaution is necessary when treating patients who may be on
anticoagulant drugs, or have an empty stomach. Do not employ cupping therapy
over the eyes, sunburn or burns in general, open wounds or a recent shock
