According to the article of Philstar, Jose Rizal was the first nationalist filipino because Rizal
taught his countrymen that they might be something else –Filipinos – who were members of a
Filipino nation. He was the primary who sought to unite the entire archipelago and envisioned a
“compact and homogenous community” of all the old tribal communities from Batanes to Sulu,
It all started when Civil Governor William Howard Taft addressed the messengers Pedro de
Tavera, Luzurriga and Legarda, Filipino members of the Philippine commission of which Taft
was the chief representative, that the Filipinos had or needed to have of National Heroes. Taft
endorsed Jose Rizal in 1901 as the national hero. Rizal also did not make negative remarks about
Asia because it was Rizal who called the Philippines his fatherland and was most remarkable
ideas at his early age. The Philippine Revolution of 1896 Rizal was the source of inspiration
outbreak.
Rizal called the Pioneer Exponent of Liberal Democracy in Asia because before Gandhi ad Sun
Yat-Sen began their career of political, agitation. Rizal use his pen, essays, letters, and novels
about the liberal democracy. According to Fisher (1962) Rizal stood up for human rights,
equality of all men and races, the dignity of every individual and faith in human reason.
