IV. Describe the process of preparing the impression material.
Use as many as possible verbs to describe the process.
To prepare impression materials for mandible is used 2 scoops of alginate powder , and for the
maxilla 3 scoops.

1. Nurse sterilized the metal trays , and disposable trays are covered in a barrier.

2. Doctor take the tray which fits the size of pacient mouth. Coat the disposable tray with an
adhesive.

3. Materials are prepared with clean hands, the alginate canister is tumbled ,after a scoop is
filled with powder , the surface is taped to condensed the powder and the top is scraped off
with spatula. The needed amount of alginate powder is put in a dry bow and pour water
with the room temperature and spatulated against the sides of the bowl to prevent air
bubbles for 45 seconds for a creamy consistency.

4. The trays are filled with alginate and the surface is smoothed with a wet finger.

5. The right handed clinician stands in the 8 o’clock position facing the pacient to take a
mandibular impression. The tray is holded with right hand and turned it over. The right
cheek is retracted and the tray is holded sideways and inserted into the mouth over the
teeth tissues from the posterior to anterior.After removing impressions from the oral cavity ,
they are sterilized with spray
