THE EFFECT OF AUDIO VISUAL IN HEALTH EDUCATION ON HEALTHY


REPRODUCTION OF FERTILE-AGED WOMEN ABOUT CERVICAL CANCER IN
INDEPENDENT MIDWIFERY CLINIC OF MIDWIFE DJUMI WIDARTI
AT SAMPANG, SEMPOR1

ABSTRACT

Background: Cervical cancer is one of the main causes of woman mortality. Indonesia is a
country with the highest number of cervical cancer sufferers in the world. Based on Indonesian
Basic Health Research in 2013 there was an increase on the number of cervical cancer cases in
Indonesia as many as 98,692 sufferers and there were 19,734 sufferers in Central Java. Giving
information (health education) about how to live a healthy life may help women to prevent
cervical cancer. This can be done through health education to improve their knowledge about
healthy living behaviors.
Objective: To describe the knowledge and attitudes of women in their childbearing age about
healthy reproduction at Sampang, Sempor.
Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The participants are 5
women in their age of childbearing (20-45 years old) at Sampang, Sempor, Kebumen. The
instruments are questionnaire sheets.
Result: After being given health education about healthy reproduction by using audio visual, the
knowledge of participants about how to live healthily was increasing up to 90% (good
knowledge). This, in turn, can prevent cervical cancer.
Conclusion: Audio visual can easily help participants improve their knowledge about health
behavior to prevent cervical cancer.
