Dear Mr RudeBusch:

I am writing to you in regards to the senior project that I am enthusiastically planning. I have
decided that Insurance Claims Adjuster is the field that I want to pursue. I am planning on
completing my 20 hours of shadowing with Mark Larson of Dakota Claims Service in
Watertown, South Dakota.

I have chosen this profession for a couple of reasons. I have always had interest in my Dad’s job
and I feel as if this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about it and whether or not I enjoy it.
I also am interested in it because the business has been in my family for about 35 years, and my
grandpa, dad, and uncle have made careers from it. Lastly, from the time I have spent with my
dad while working, I have enjoyed the work and I like the aspect of working both in and outside.
I am mostly looking forward to getting a better understanding of insurance adjusters day to day
activities. As of right now, I don’t have any real apprehensions or concerns. My plan is to start
shadowing this coming week, the week of October 4th. I have not made any further plans past
then, but my mentor and I are very flexible, so I just need to pick the dates that work best for my
schedule and confirm them with my mentor.

During my shadowing experience, I hope to achieve a greater understanding of insurance claims

adjusters tasks and whether or not I think they are for me. I am excited to start shadowing and I
believe that this is a great opportunity to get a taste of the Insurance world learning from
someone with over 20 years of experience.
