Tourism Destination

In the last decades, tourism represent one of the most important economy branches. Tourism is
topic broadly studied by many researches, who have given many definitions to the describe the core
of the term. For example, UNWTO define tourism as “social, cultural and economic phenomenon
which entails the movement of people to countries or places outside their usual environment for
personal or business/professional purposes.” Furthermore, Britannica(Tourism | Definition, History,
Types, Importance, & Industry, n.d.) define tourism as “the act and process of spending time away
from home in pursuit of recreation, relaxation, and pleasure, while making use of the commercial
provision of services.” As we can see all the definitions have some common attributes. First of all,
tourism is a social phenomenon, which contributes global economy. According to the World Travel
and Tourism Council the total contribution of the tourism industry in the global GDP in 2019 was
10,3 %. Every 10th job in the world belong to the tourism industry. (WTTC, Travel &Tourism
Economic Impact 2019, World). Furthermore, tourism significantly contributes to the development
of the transition countries. (Zdravkoviš & Petroviš, 2013)
