A motorcycle accident resulted in an open, comminuted, minimally displaced fracture to the middle-distal third of the left tibia. This injury caused restricted function of the left leg, tissue swelling and laceration at the injury site, abrasions on the skin, bleeding from the damaged bone ends and surrounding soft tissue. As a result, the patient experienced shock, increased thigh diameter from blood loss, hypotension and tachycardia due to severe blood loss, fatigue and weakness in the affected extremity, and problems with gait and mobility.
