Three years ago, I chose to opt for law out of sheer enthusiasm of exploring it.

The Fact that many of

my role models were lawyers didn’t hurt.

Colleges such as National law universities require you to crack an entrance exam before they offer
you admission. I personally believe that the entrance exam is not that tough but the fact that more
than 50 thousand students appear for it and that most of them come from upper echelons of the
society who paid lakhs of rupees in preparatory coaching centers makes appearing for CLAT a
terrifying prospect. Without similar guidance and preparatory resources the underprivileged children
are left to fend off for themselves. Thus, elite national law universities turn out to be an exclusive
space.

IDIA Has been doing truly impressive work to sensitize young students about law as a career option,
but the work doesn’t stop there they also help underprivileged children to prepare for entrance
exams and later on securing scholarships. When I found about this opening for a teaching position
within IDIA, I was absolutely thrilled, it’s a great opportunity to do some good. While I might not
have as much experience as a few others, what I lack in experience I make up in enthusiasm,
willingness and resourcefulness.

Community service is something I’m really passionate about; I believe all of us owe this to society as
well as ourselves. I’ve been part of blood donation Camps and Cloth distribution programs
previously. I’m Also a member of YIMF (write whatever this organization does here)

When I got admitted in RMLNLU I Decided to do my bit, in the words of Mahatma Gandhi ‘Be the
change, you want to see in the world’. I want to guide those who are in need of guidance. I want to
make sure no one else faces the obstacles I had to face.

Late prof Shamnad Basheer dreamt of making law a more inclusive field but he didn’t just dream he
took up the initiative and he made it a better place , he is no longer with us but his dream lives on
IDIA Lives on and I wish to contribute to his mission and his vision in whatever small capacity I can.
