Determining percentage yield of the thermal decomposition reaction

of CuCO3
The equation of the decomposition reaction is as follows

CuCO3(green solid)→ CuO (black solid) +CO2

The evolution of CO2 makes the masses before and after heating to be different. The mass of CuO
produced in the reaction ( actual/experimental yield) can be used to determine the percentage yield
.A given mass of CuCO3 is therefore heated until it decomposes ( indicated by the colour change )
and the mass of CuO measured .
