1. What is a part of speech?

Answer: Patterns such as “Subject + Verb + Noun” are common structures for the formation of a
sentence. However, not only Indonesian uses sentence structure. English has too! In correct grammar,
the sentence builder term is called part of speech, which consists of 8 types. Part of speech is
categorized based on the function of the word in the sentence formed. And it turns out, it doesn't only
consist of the subject (actor) or the verb (the activity that is carried out). There is a lot you need to
know. What are you doing?

Noun (noun)
Nouns are words that are meant to describe something. It can be a person, animal, object, or
place. Wherever, noun will always exist because its role covers a large part of the tructure in general.

Example: I am eating an orange. (I'm eating an orange.)

Orange in the sentence is a noun because it refers to the food that is being eaten by I. In
addition to being at the back of the sentence, there is also a noun that is placed in front of the sentence.
Even at the front, it's still called a noun.

Example: Japan is where I live now. (I live in Japan now.)

Pronoun (pronoun)
Often hear the word he, she, it? This is the source! As the name implies, pronouns function as a
substitute for subjects such as humans, animals or objects. Pronouns are also able to avoid repetition of
words in compound sentences.

Example: My sister has a cat named Boo. She always takes care of Boo. (My sister has a cat named Boo.
She always takes care of Boo.) In the sentence above, she is used to avoid repetition of the word my
sister.

Verb (verb)
Every activity performed by the subject is called a verb. If there isn't a verb, chances are that the
sentence won't be formed! It's impossible right, one sentence contains only a subject and a noun?
Example: He plays basketball. (He plays basketball.)

My parents cook some noodles. (My parents cook noodles.)

However, verbs can be to be in English, such as is, am, are. For example, in the sentence They are
singing. (They are singing.) So the verb form depends on the adverb of the time in the sentence huh.

to teach English to your elementary school students?

development, then we discuss the steps that should be taken. Chodidjah (2002) provides several tips for
teachers, including:

 Talks not too fast

 Use of language that is simple and easy to understand
 Use English when talking to students
 Use body language, gestures or gestures, and facial expressions when necessary
 Use props, such as pictures, puppets, pictures on the board, and real objects. In addition, Pahin
and Power (1990) provide suggestions for EYL teachers as follows:
 Learn children's names from day one
 Determine the rules in the classroom that must be obeyed from the start
 Use mother tongue for difficult instructions. Instructions must be clear so that students do not
hesitate in doing exercises or assignments
 Encourage children to use English as much as possible
 Maintain children's interests with a variety of activities
 Change spouses or group members so that the children do not always work with good friends or
certain friends
 Walk around in class to help students and monitor their progress
 Give lots of repetitions and exercises
 Allow students to move places, especially during play and singing
 Use the right media, such as pictures, puppets, and reality
