Proposed Design of Designated Public Sanitation and Disposal Station for Urban

Community

Statement of the Problem:


 The Department of Health (DOH) is appealing to public to properly dispose personal
protective equipment such as face masks to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).
 DOH calls to the public that waste should be properly segregated, it should be marked
and labeled, and it has its own collection schedule and disposal area, If not done properly,
garbage collectors run the risk of being infected by the novel coronavirus.

 As we continue to wear disposable PPEs such as face masks to protect ourselves, let us
all be aware that PPEs if improperly disposed can expose other people to infection.
 Designated Disposal Station for the general public is still yet to be addressed by our
Government.

Objective:
The aim of this study is to Design a “Designated Public Sanitation and Disposal Station” that can
be utilize by the public, which will be allocated in accessible area within the community. Hence,
the purpose of this study is to assess medical waste usage in the urban community during the
COVID-19 pandemic, as we take the requisite action for the Design and designation of the said
Station to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Significance:
The finding of this study will benefit the safety of the community as to also improve societal
adaptation to the waste-related effects of the pandemic and how to we can properly manage the
spread of the virus. By providing a Designated Public Sanitation and Disposal Station, the
community is expected to be encourage to properly dispose their used personal protective
equipment such as face masks and face shield in the established stations as it will also greatly
benefit for our garbage collectors run the risk of being infected.
