COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This session will give administrative and clerical staff an understanding of general
medical terminology by covering the following topics:

• Glossary of useful medical works including how medical terms are constructed
using roots/suffixes and prefixes
• Basic language of prescribing
• Numbers
• Surgical procedures
• Symbols
• Abbreviations
• Some jargon

*Group work consists of word exercises, quizzes etc with a view to participants
becoming confident in their understanding of how medical terminology is made up.

This is half-day workshop, running from 09:15 to 12:45.
