Why do you think Christians pray?

Most Christians believe prayer deepens a person's faith. Praying can help the believer
come to a greater understanding of God's purpose for their lives. Christians interpret the
response they might get to their prayers in the following ways: God answers prayers, but
not always in the way the person wants. When a prayer is not answered, it may be that the
person asked for something God thinks would not be good for them, or that their prayer
will be answered later, Sometimes Christians think that God has answered their prayers in
quite spectacular ways, eg the recovery of a sick person. They may see this as a miracle,
For some Christians, meditation or contemplation is a way of trying to reach a higher
spiritual level, Others, especially Orthodox Christians, use the 'Jesus Prayer', “Lord Jesus
Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”. They may chant this prayer over and
over to clear their minds and achieve inner peace.

What is a rosary? How does it help Catholics in

their prayer?
(In the Roman Catholic Church) A form of devotion in which five (or fifteen)
decades of Hail Marys are repeated, each decade preceded by an Our Father
and followed by a Glory Be. It gives them something to say to God if they
don’t know what to say.

Key words
Adoration- Praising or adoring God for what He is.

Thanksgiving- Thanking God either for His general goodness or for some specific thing.

Confession- Confessing sins to God, asking for forgiveness and determining to do better.

What do you think Jesus is explaining about

prayer, what should Christians do and why?
He is saying that people who do prayer will get into god’s kingdom and that god favours
people who are humble, poor and kind, this means that Christians should do righteous
deeds and be kind to others in order to get into God’s kingdom.

CH: “forgive us our trespasses”, “lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil”,
“Give us this day our daily bread”.

The Lord’s Prayer is important because it reminds Christians to forgive others in order to
be forgiven, prayer is effective if peoples relationships with others are right, reminds
Christians God is the Father of the whole community- creates a sense of unity.
