Palm oil in India is always produced by replacing

previously tilled cultivable land

Indian palm oil is 100% sustainable
No forest is ever touched
We consume palm oil as a major raw material
for our oleo chemicals as well as for our soaps business.
We also produce Indian palm oil in our Agrovet
company. Palm oil in India is produced by small holder
plantations which always replace previously tilled
cultivable land. It always involves a switchover from a
less sustainable agro crop to oil palm. No forest is ever
touched. Therefore, Indian palm oil is 100% sustainable
though RSPO has yet to recognise this fact and draw up
the necessary certification procedure. We also import
palm oil products from Malaysia and Indonesia and it is
our commitment to switch to consumption of 100%
certified palm products by the end of 2020 at the latest.
We also source palm products which have been
produced from imported palm oil by India-based
processors. Their sourcing is not controllable by us but it
is our endeavor to work with them so that even such
secondary sourced products are RSPO compliant by the
end of 2020 at the latest. We acknowledge that
considerable progress towards sustainable practice has
been made by our suppliers in Malaysia and Indonesia.
If for any reason there is found to be breach on their part
or if there is found to be any link between palm oil and
deforestation, it is our commitment to break such a link.
We believe the world needs palm oil but only such palm
oil as is produced in a sustainable manner with due
regard and concern for fauna and flora.
