This concept art for the Mindanao Seal contains a Filipino indigenous shield (kalasag) that

displays the elements of the unofficial flag of the State of Mindanao. The cross, the crescent, and the
gong represents the coexistence of the three main divisions of the people of the Mindanao: the
Christians, the Muslims, and the Lumads. The hanging Lumad necklace with multicoloured breads
represents the various identities of the people in Mindanao, that beauty and harmony still emerge by
living together as one community, worthy of being worn with pride.

The sickle signifies the abundance of natural resources in Mindanao that is meant to feed its
people; while the sword signifies their brave hearts and their ability to defend themselves from any
harm. The coat that forms the background which embraces the all the inner elements held by a humble
hut serve as reminder for its people that Mindanao will always be their home.

The balangay boat that brings high hopes, good fortune, and inspiring stories to the people during its
glory days represents Mindanao dream and aspirations. The motto “Luwalhati’t Pagsinta’’ (Passion &
Glory), taken from the Philippine National Anthem, exemplifies the continuous safeguarding of a
peaceful coexistence of the people in Mindanao and their celebration of the triumph of understanding
and dialogue over hatred and intolerance
