Presentation analysis

What were the strong point in Jobs's introduction?

 The speech was structured in smart way – he managed to arouse interest of audience and
make them focused on the speech.
What was the 'hook' of his presentation, i.e. something to catch the audience's attention at the
start? Did he directly start presenting the product name?
 The “hook” was the combining humor, sarcasm and statistical data, information. In this
way, audience is listening to him, but perceives all the data.
In which order Jobs presented the features of the product, its name, USP?
 To start with, he tells the audience that the phone will change the submission of modern
phones. Then he returned to discoveries of competitors, then we said a few words about
new features, and only after this told the name. After this, he fully explained new features
and told why do people need this innovation.
How and why does Job use the visual aids?
 He uses visual aids for better understanding of innovative product. Data and statistics is
easier to understand when you see the graphs, tables, etc.
Which STRONG Verbs & WORDS (persuading, catching and keeping attention) does he use
here and there? How effective are they?
 Reinvent, phenomenal, revolutionary, breakthrough.
How does Jobs involve the audience? Give several examples.
 The main point is humor and sarcasm. For example, when he was only starting the
presentation, he was talking about the way how people will use the phone. “-Stylus? No,
who needs the stylus nowadays”. Also, visuals also involve the audience. They really pay
attention to the presentation and react to the things he says.
Which way does he change the subject?
 He changes topics smoothly, changes the subjects by saying: “Let’s leave this for now
and turn to the next topic”
Write down some of the signposting phrases (changing the subject or making the start,
finalizing).
 Now, we are going to start discussing…
We are going to build on top of this SOFTWARE. (Software is the next topic.)
The second thing we are doing is…
The last thing in this is…
Now, who are his TA?
His target audience are those people, who accept innovations, who are ready to turn from the old
phones to something new. In my opinion, it should be people starting with 14 years old to 40 or
so.
Is his language full of terminology? Is it hard to understand?
 His language contains some terminology, but as I’ve said earlier, it’s combined with the
humor in the way that his speech is very easy to understand and follow. His speech is
structured in a special way, in which you understand every word he said even if there was
some terminology.

Does he use any figures? When and why? Are the figures appropriate in this part of the
presentation? Why? As it is an incomplete video, there's no conclusion.
 He uses figures to explain the specifics of the phone, for instance the inches of the
display or the resolution of it. Also, when explaining the width of the phone, megapixels
of the camera, etc. To sum up, he does not use much figures to make the speech
understandable, interesting, and not boring.
