Answer the following questions:

1. What is PERT? Explain.

PERT also known as the Project Evaluation Review Technique is used in project management to
identify the time it takes to finish a specific task or activity. It does so by integrating a system that helps
in proper scheduling and coordination of all tasks involved in a project. A PERT chart uses circles or
rectangles called nodes to represent project events or milestones. These nodes are linked by vectors, or
lines, that represent various tasks. By integrating a PERT chart, it keeps track of the progress and allows
managers to evaluate the time and resources necessary to manage a project.

2. What is CPM? Explain.

The critical path method (CPM) is a step-by-step project management technique for process
planning that defines critical and non-critical tasks with the goal of preventing time-frame problems and
process bottlenecks. The CPM is ideally suited to projects consisting of numerous activities that interact
in a complex manner.

3. Give two examples of PERT chart.

This example of PERT chart shows the timeline of the project management of developing a website for a
functioning business.

This PERT chart visualizes the process timeline of the evaluation of a program usage.
4. Give two examples of CPM.
