We attached to the petition as Annex “D,” his NSO-issu: where I am named as his mother.> _ ed birth certificate, “The testimony ofthe witness is being offered to prove that she is the co-pettioner inthis adoption case; to prove that she is the minor's biological mother; to prove thatthe minor has been in her care and entou al his lie; to prove that her marriage tothe minors biological father was annulled; to prove that the minors biological father abandoned the minor; to prove that she has exhausted al efforts to obtain the consent of the minor's biological father to the adoption; to prove that she is able to care for the minor, and to prove that she is able to provide the minor with a comfortable home and loving and stable family environment. We have attached! their birth) Certificates to‘our petition as Annexes “G” and "H.” These were marked! ‘as Exhibits “HH” and “I” in my husband’s Judicial Affidavit Why do you wish to adopt the minor? ae, We wish to adopt him so that he can legally use our surname, Rufino, and so that he can inherit from my husband and myself in the same way as his younger sisters. How long has the minor been in your care? ‘and sold custody since I gave birth to him in 1998. He has been in my care 6. What sort of participation did the minor's biological father, Teddy John Gorospe Jr. have in the minor's upbringing? ‘None. His biological father abandoned us since before he was born and. hasn’t been in contact or reachable since. 7. How did the minor's biological father abandon you? ‘a. While I was pregnant with the minor, he told me that he wanted to move back to the United States so he could find work since we were just relying on our parents for support in the Philippines at the time. I was pregnant so I couldn't work and he couldn't find a job locally since he failed to ‘graduate from high school. So he left for the United States to live in his mom’s house in Los Angeles. After which, he sent mea letter saying he wasn’t ready to be a father or a husband and that he was sorry, but he couldn't come back for us. He asked me to never contact him again. & What sort of contact, if any, did you have with him after he sent you that letter? ‘a. None. I did try calling him and sending him letters, especially after Lawrence was born, but he never took my calls or replied. 9. What sort of contact, if any, did you have with his family after he sent you that letter? a. My dad, who also works as an engineer in the United States, was able to visit his mom’s house and talk to her after Lawrence was born and when | filed for annulment. She refused to help us get in touch with her son on either occasion. After that, we haven’t had any contact with them at all. 10. What sort of proof, if any, do you have of the minor’s abandonment by his father? a. In 2005, I obtained an annulment from the minor's biological father. The judge said that his abandonment of us was a main indicator of his, psychological incapacity to be a husband. How do you know you can take care of the minor? ‘2. I know I can continue taking care of him because I have taken care of him all of his life. I was mostly a single mother for the first 7 years of his life, ‘with only my parents to help me in taking care of him while I worked. 1 am lucky in that my husband, Carlo, has always loved my son as his own. child, has helped me with parenting, even when we were just engaged to be married. Ihave access to this ‘account for our family’s daily expenses and anything all three of our children may need, day to day. my husban 17, What proof do you have, ifany, that the minor is a healthy and well-adjusted child in your care? a. Our son is a good and well-behaved child. He can sometimes struggle to keep his grades up, but he always studies harder and doesn't get mad when we call his attention to his grades. He's an excellent big brother to his baby sisters and is always polite and obedient t0| family. As part of the adoption process, my husband and Thad our son evaluated by a pediatrician, Dr. Vienne Valentin-Saulog, of the Philippine Pediatric Society. She issued! a Medical Certificate dated 26 September 2012, stating that our son is “Well Adolescent” and that “He has no ‘current behavioral issues.” My husband attached this to his Judicial Affidavit as Exhibit “V." 18. How did you decide to adopt the minor? ‘a. When Carlo and I first started thinking about marriage, I made it clear to him that my son needed to be a part of our life together. He was 100% agreeable to it and wouldn’t have it any other way. When we got married in 2007, we knew that we had a ready-made family, that has since grown in size and love with the addition of 2 more children. How can you describe your family home? We live in a three-bedroom house in a condominium cluster of apartments. We have a large extended family who will gladly take care of our children if anything should happen to us. However, a8 part of the adoption process, my sister, Ruby Anne Evangelista Sy, and her husband, Juan Sy, have made a Statement of Undertaking of Guardianship, which we attached to the petition as Annex “W.”? Init, they promise to take care of Lawrence if anything should happen to me and Carlo.
