Bees

Bees are amazing insects. They help to keep flowers growing and some even
make honey! There are over 20,000 different kinds of bees. Here are just two
of them.

Western honey bee

One of the most well-known species of bee is the honey bee. As it says in their
name, they make honey using the sweet water inside flowers, called nectar.
They make it inside their home, called a hive, which is made of wax. Honey has
been eaten by humans for thousands of years.

Tawny mining bee

Mining bees are very interesting creatures. They dig holes, because they live
in the ground. They lay eggs in these holes and baby bees are hatched there.
They are small, fluffy and orange. Unlike some bees, they do not sting.

Little Red Riding Hood

Once, there was a girl called Little Red Riding Hood. Every week, she would go
to visit her grandmother in the woods. She would always take a basket of
treats with her for her grandmother to eat. One day, a scary wolf saw her
walking through the woods and decided to eat her. He ran to the house where
Red Riding Hood’s grandmother lived and hid in her bed. When Red Riding
Hood got to the house, she noticed her grandmother looked different.
“Grandma, what big teeth you have!” she said. The wolf replied “All the better
to eat you with!” and jumped from the bed. Red Riding Hood screamed and,
luckily, the noise was heard by a man cutting wood. He chased the wolf away
and saved Little Red Riding Hood.
