Assignment 1
Assignment 1
1. Briefly describe your chosen activity, assessment or resource, and the technology you think
is appropriate to support it (100 words if you choose written submission format or 1 minute
recording if you choose to submit video format).
The Activity is Blogging. The students will their experience during the COVID 19 pandemic
through blogging. They will be given a rubric to guide them in their activity and to discuss how
assessment would be conducted. The students will watch a video on Youtube on blogging. This
will serve as flipped activity for them. While the students complete the milestones of the blog,
they will be guided through Forums and video conference using Google Meet. Submission of
the output will be through Google Classroom submission. The grade will be posted there so that
the student is informed about his/her performance.
2. Explain why have you chosen this particular technology instead of other technologies to
support your chosen activity, assessment, or resource (300 words if you choose written
submission format or 3 minute recording if you choose to submit video format).
I chose the technology as it is accessible to both learners and teachers. Youtube offers a multitude
of resources available to all. Videos are meaningful tools for learning and they can be watched
anytime. The Youtube video can be inserted in the Google classroom. Google Classroom, on the
other hand, provides easy communication. This platform also provides opportunities to differentiate
the activities, allows fast verification if an output is not yet submitted, there is no lost work, and
allows active engagement between the teacher and the students as well as students and
classmates. Posting of marks is also available. Also, when students submit assignments or output,
they can be save in the drive. It is also accessible to any device whether a mobile phone, laptop, PC,
or tablet is being used by the student. Using Google classroom allows the students access to other
Google products like Meet and Hangouts.
One of the most important aspects of maintaining a successful blog is networking. You need to
build connections to gain readers and boost your visibility. Exchanging links and guest posts
can help you rise in the ranks of popular search engines, allowing more people to find you
simply by searching for a specific subject. You’ll also be able to gain a following from blogs that
have large readerships just by networking with the blog owner.

On a closing note, there’s one important thing to remember. No matter how you decide to
approach your journal blog, just remember to update on a consistent schedule. Failing to update
can cause you to fade into oblivion as readers don’t know when to expect your next post.
Google meet is a quick videoconferencing platform. This can help guide the student in writing the
journal. It is readily available anytime and anywhere. It is also helpful for the teacher as he/she can
guide students through VC with more than 1 student.
Once you upload your eLearning course materials onto the LMS and publish them, your
audience has unlimited access to the information they need. Even those who are on the go can
login to the eLearning platform via their smartphones and tablets, so that they don’t have to wait
until their next online training session to develop skills and perfect work-related tasks. This is
one of the main reasons why a LMS is essential for global audiences in different time zones.
(Pappas, 2016).
When using open systems, teachers have to be rigorous in providing appropriate privacy
for their students, otherwise they may be held personally responsible for issues that may
arise.
Or if a teacher or student breaches copyright, they may also be held personally responsible.
The line between the use of institutionally supported systems and open technologies is
increasingly becoming blurred.
Herring (2002) had identified four different forms of cyber violence: online contact/ off
line harm, cyber stalking, degradation and harassment. Online contact that leads to off
line harms is signified by one person aiming to gain the trust of another in order to abuse
them in real life, either physically, sexually or financially. It has criminal intent at its core.
Cyber stalking is a form of intimidation that occurs through online monitoring of a
person’s activities; unwanted contact that invades the person’s privacy and causes fear.
At its basis is the perpetrator’s desire for control and power. Cyber stalking has the
potential to move from online to real life environment.
The use of open technology is also helpful to communicate with other people particularly
your students. However, as a teacher, you must be careful and should take all the
responsibility in using open technology because of its security and privacy. (Nathalie

A Learning Management System gives you the power to completely do away with
instructor travel costs, online training site rentals, and printed eLearning materials. Your
online learners can carry out all of their training online, which means that you can save a
sizable sum on your Learning and Development budget. For example, you won’t have to
worry about printing out 500 manuals and booking a hotel room for your instructor,
because all the information your online learners require is right in the LMS.
