1. ECGNET Installation
ECGNET is a software based on PC to communicate with the company’s ECG
machine via USB/RS232 interface, to capture VCG(Frank System) or ECG(Wilson
System) and Save \ Edit \ Print the ECG cases. ECGNET is easy to operate,
providing multi-format ECG report, and also can saving report as WORD / JPEG
/ DICOM file-format for data exchange, using A4 paper to reduce the daily cost.
Cases management function is convenient for medical institution at clinical,
consultation, teaching, scientific research.
This software consists of the following functional modules: (a) Add/New
Cases (b) ECG Capture (c) ECG Report Editing/Printing (d) Case History
Search/Summary e) user and permission management.
1.1 Personal Computer Requirement
(1) Pentium Processor, with 256M RAM, 40G HDD, USB and RS232 interfaces
(2) Microsoft Windows98/2k/xp, as well as Microsoft Office2000 suite
(3) Above 1024x768 Color Monitor
(4) Above 600dpi ink jet or laser printer
(5) Running ECGNET for ms-access (using Microsoft Access)
Or ECGNET for ms-sql-server (using Microsoft SQL Server)
(6) Necessary ECG machine: Has USB and the RS232 connection (the LAN
connection may elect), have the data communication function.
Attention: The AC power connected with PC should comply with
international standard. PC and operator should avoid contacting with
the patient or the bed. AC power should have a good condition of
earth.
1.2 Product Versions and Scope of Application
According to application, ECGNET has two versions corresponding to
MS-ACCESS and MS-SQL-SERVER database system. At the same time, according
to its function, it has Standard version and Professional version. The Standard

version only has possession of the related function of 12 ch. ECG, while
Professional version not only has the function of Standard version, but also can
provide comprehensive analysis of VCG and Atropine.
This software can provide the function of a seamless connection to the whole
hospital information systems and medical image archiving system (HIS/PACS),
to realize get patient ‘s information from the appointment, lining up calls a
number, the swipe card, and upload ECG parameter diagnosis and ECG article
reports to the entire courtyard network (HIS/PACS). Therefore it can reduce
consumables cost greatly, raise work efficiency, and promote to raise hospital
management level and comprehensive information construction. Due to the huge
differences of hospital information systems (HIS/PACS); therefore this functional
needs custom-made specially.
Software version: This Operation Manual is applicable to ECGNET-V2.40-sp14
Main structure: this software is mainly composed of Add/New Cases, ECG
Capture, Report Editing/Printing, Case History Search/Summary, and user and
permission management.
Scope of Application: suitable for ECG capturing/memory, Report
editing/printing and Case History searching/Summary
1.3 Installation
Step 1: Prepare your Database Software
During the installation of ECG Archive Software, a user must first prepare the
database software system (Note: ECG Archive Software does not contain database
software). ECGNET software has two versions: 【ECGNET for ms-access】,
【ECGNET for ms-sql-server】, using MS ACCESS and MS SQL SERVER database
software. Installation process of MS ACCESS and MS SQL SERVER are as follows:
(1) MS ACCESS 2000: In General, MS ACCESS 2000 or the above versions of the
software contains MS ACCESS database software. When you install MS
OFFICE, you can just select ACCESS installed.
(2) MS SQL SERVER 2000: Run AUTORUN of MS-SQL-SERVER 2000
installation CD. Click [SQL Server 2000 components], go to next window,
select [install database server] , and then follow the default installation step

by step until it appears the following window.
After setting as the above picture, please click [Next], enter into the following
window:
After finished the settings, please click [Next] to continue the installation,
until it is completed, and then restart the computer.
Step 2: ECG Archive Software installation
Install ECGNET by running SETUP240.EXE, according to the instructions

click [Next] --- [Install folder] --- [Install]. After finished the installation, it
generates ECGNET program group (ECGNET program group includes: main
program, important explanation, USB driver and so on). Usually D:\ECGNET is
the default install directory，you also can change to another directory.
Step 3: Select USB or RS232 Interface
There are two ways for ECG to connect with PC: USB or RS232. USB has quick
communication speed, used for ECG capture (ECG is equal to ECG adopter at this
time) while RS232 has slow speed, in stead of ECG capture, it mainly used for
play backing transmission of ECG internal data document.
As WINDOWS standard USB devices, ECG USB interface needs to be installed
USB device driver: Click [ECGNET USB Driver] in ECGNET program group, the
following window appears, click [Install], wait a moment till it is finished. Note:
There is no need to install device driver for RS232.
Connecting ECG (or a data adopter) with the computer by the USB cable,
WINDOWS will prompt you to find the new device, then approves automatically
or the position showed as the above figure: D:\ECGNET\USB210X . (Tip: location
of ECG USB device driver of our early production is
D:\ECGNET\ft245driver-R9052154).
When the installation of device driver is completed, in WINDOWS Device
Manager it presents the equipment name as follows: Mark 1 (COM6) is USB Port
(Note: USB Port may be COM1, COM2, and COM3…COM255. It depends on
user's computer system hardware disposition.) Run ECGNET, click [Tools] ->
[Configuration] (see 3.2 System Configuration), select and configure the serial

communications interface for USB port.

1.5 Preparation: Position of Electrodes

1.5.1 Frank/Wilson System

According related international standard, ECG uses Wilson lead system
while VCG uses Frank lead system. Formula of the system and position of
electrodes are as follows:

2. Operation Guide case.（HR, PR, QRS, ST-T and so on）

Click [File] ---[Exist App] or the button “shutting down” in the top
right-hand corner to withdraw from this software system
Step1: Add/New Case
Click [File] --- [Exist App+Windows] or the button [ShutDn] in the toolbar
to withdraw from this system and windows
Step2: USB Capture

2.1 Add/New Case

Step3: Report Editing
Click [Add] speed button from toolbar to Add a new case as follows (see
Figure 2), and fill in the basic information such as patient’s name/sex/age,

RS232 inpatient No., wards, clinic diagnoses ect. You can click [other] to fill additional
information of patient such as height, weight, medicine used, illness history ect.
Click [Add2] to copy basic information of current case to a new case.
[Visit HIS/PACS]is used for reading the patient’s information from the entire
information system(HIS).It may speed up the work efficiency of the registration of
the information. Due to the huge difference of HIS in different hospitals, therefore
this function needs custom-made specially.

There is a [Dictionary] in the right of the window which is used to save
common clauses, when the cursor moved to Req.Dept、Req.Doctor、Doctor, etc.
Click [ECGNET for ms-access] in ECGNET program group, after confirmed
Registers window, enter into ECG Main Window. There are 4 parts on the main The dictionary will display contents concerned to be choosed automatically, you
window---Menu bar, Toolbar, status bar, Case History, ECG Parameters. Details can Add/Edit/Delete the clauses on the dictionary by click [Edit] button. There
are as follows: are same dictionary in the following windows.
(1) Menu bar: to use this software's all functions (see menu details)
(2) Toolbar: shortcuts of commonly used menu function ( Add, ECG, Report,
Print Search and so on)
(3) Status bar: Each line of corresponding ECG record. [Report Edit]May
demonstrate the detailed record information;
(4) Case History: demonstrates all ECG record of the current patient, double
click by comparison.
(5) ECG Parameters: demonstrates correspondence ECG parameter with the

During ECG capturing, the user can click [Close] to stop it. In addition,
if the capturing time is less than 12 seconds, it will prompt user to give up
the record or not; If the time is over 12 seconds, it will also prompt user to
save the record or not. Click [Save] for keeping the record.
Note: 1.For the patient who wears pacemaker, we suggest user not use
HUM filter.
2. If ECG waveform is not satisfied, press [Start] to capture again.

2.2 ECG Capture If waveform is not satisfied,

2.2.1 ECG Capture: USB press [Start] to capture again

After connecting the patient with the electrode, click [ECG] in the toolbar,
it will present ECG gathering window (Figure 3-1). On the left side, it has
HUM Filter, EMG Filter, and Anti_Drift Filter (In default status, it selects
all of the three); Working mode (Mode: default status is 1×12 ch. Mode);
waveform demonstration proportion (Default status is 10%) ；Grid On, Figure 3-1 - USB Communication
QRS Beep, Enable Timer. what’s more, on the left side, it demonstrates
automatically [Time] and [HR], patient’s name/sex/age and other
information. ECG lead and capturing window appears by click (See Figure 3-2)

At the bottom of the left side, there respectively are “AC Frequency” Choose working mode in “lead and mode window”: VCG, ECG12, ECG15
and “Waveform”. “AC Frequency” has two items: AC50Hz and AC60Hz. and so on, set ECG enable time under this working mode; edit [Pattern]
The setting should conform to the local AC frequency; otherwise it will (choose [As Default] ), [Add], [Edit], [Delete] are used for saving the
cause bad effect on HUM filter. [Waveform] has three items: [ECG] pre-settings.
-capturing waveform form digital ECG machine; [Test] -presents analogue
test square-wave; [Demo] -presents ECG analog waveform; each time,
when it enters into the gathering widow, the default status is “ECG”.

2.3 The software will prompt to save ECG data before press [CLOSE] to exit.
(3) If there is something wrong during ES232 communication (such as have no
response), please close RS232 communication window, and check whether the
connection of RS232 is correct or not. Repeat the above operations.

2.2.2 ECG Capture: RS232

Our digital ECG machine can save 20 cases (be posisible to expand 250 cases).
ECGNET software may communicate with ECG machine by RS232 interface,
sending ECG document to PC for unified management. Status of serial port

cable, click [FILE] on ECG machine keypad, enters into the function of File
Manaement, choose the file which is going to transmit to PC, presee [F4], then

enters into ECG playbacking, at the same time , on the screen of ECG machine, it
demonstrates ECG waveform.
2.3 ECG Report Editing
（2）Click [Add] on ECGNET main window to establish a new patient, then
press [RS232] at the bottom right corner, it presents RS232 communication

12 Lead ECG will be showed simultaneously in the ECG reporting window,
you can drag mouse scrollbar to view the overall ECG waveform.
ECG Parameters/ interpretation can be gotten by clicking [Analysis] button
(see Figure 4.1), based on 12 lead representative waveform, it shows P-Q-R-S-T
auto-position. P-Q-R-S-T position and ECG leads also can be adjustable by user.
After conformation, the parameters and interpretation of ECG can be calculated
automatically. ECG Diagnosis and Parameters will show the right of the window,
ECG diagnoses can be revised manually by doctor, and the user can click the
dictionary (DictDiagnosis) to pickup clauses.

2.4 ECG Report Printing

Click the [PRINT] in toolbar, a print preview window will be displayed

(Figure 5). The user can set paper speed, proportion, as well as choose choice
corresponding ECG report form.
By click [REPORT], user can re-edit patient information and ECG parameter
/ diagnosis etc., [PRINT] button is for ECG report printing.

Click the printing shortcuts of the right of the window to save the above
amendment, and bring the printing preview window for printing ECG report (See
Figure 5)

or BITMAP Image for case exchange. “ECG Bitmap Only” just can save ECG
waveform.
Click [Printer] may choose printer attribute. This software supports 2 kinds of
printing paper: 16K and A4. It needs ink-jet printer or laser printer, which has a
resolution of at least 600dpi. Here the printer attribute is temporary. After all the
new setting about printer attribute can not save after it withdraw form ECGNET.
We suggest the user choose and setting the printer in [Control panel] of Windows.

By click [SETUP] to setup the ECG Report, you can revise the Hospital Name,
Report Title, Report font, as well as ECG waveform style. (Figure 5.1). Detailed
explanation for printing control is as follows:

3.2、Case History Summary

Click [Archive] -> [Summary] from main menu to bring the following
window (See Figure 7). Define the starting date as beginning; the software will fill
in concluding date automatically. Note: the information collected on the last day
is not included in the summary, for example: the starting date is on April 1, 2008,

3.3、 System Configuration comprehensive analysis of VCG and Atropine). The software has 30 days trial
period before authorization. You can be authorized by acquiring a Register Key
from the company by sending your Serial No. to the company or purchasing
USB-SECURITY-KEY. Note: Standard version and Professional version have different
Register Key and USB-SECURITY-KEY. Click [Tools] -> [SW Register] from main
menu, Software Registration window is showed as Figure 9. Write down the
correspond Key (Register Key) with S/N (Serial No.), and then press [Save] to
finish software registration. If the user have purchased USB-SECURITY-KEY,
please put it into USB interface (driver is not needed) to finish software
registration.

Click [Tools] -> [Configuration] from main menu, System Configuration
window is showed as Figure 8. [USB Port] is used for setting communication port.
[Workdir] will be set as default. Important items are explained as following:
(1) Enable ECG to dVCG

(4) [<ECG Description> OFF] is for more characteristic description of ECG

3.4. Software Registration

According to its function, this software is divided into 2 versions: Standard
version (only has the related function of 12 ch. ECG) and Professional version
(not only has the function of Standard version, but also can provide

4. Technical Norms, Attentions and Software License
How to keep the cases when the user install or update the software?

4.3 Software License Agreement
Thank you for purchasing and using our software products. In the use of
this product, please first read the following license agreement carefully. Agree
to all the terms of this license agreement is necessary for you. If you do not
agree to the terms of this agreement, please return this software to the
company or its agent in 3 days. Your using of this software shows you have
accepted the terms of this agreement.
(1) You can copy the software for backup; you can merge our software into
your program according to the documentation of this product for the
purpose of protecting your software.
(2) Except for the above actions authorized by the terms of this license
agreement, you can not copy, modify, reverse engineering, decompose
and reorganize part or all of the software; you have no right to sell, rent,
permit, transfer, distribute part or all of the software or the right
authorized by this agreement.
(3) We ensure that there will be no quality problem and design flaws under
normal using in 12 months form date of shipment. During this 12 months，
our responsibility and remedial measures are: return, replace or repair the
product; after this 12 months, the remedial measures are repair or replace the
product.
(4) The limited warranty listed above is only for the original buyer. We will
mot make other warranty to any others.
(5) In any case, no matter how it cause or what the theory basis is, we will not
responsible for the losses whatever you use or can’t use this product,
including: the losses of your databases and your profit caused by the use
of this product and the losses happened in special, incidental,
accompanying, secondary or indirect cases.
(6) All copyrights of the product, including USB-SECURITY-KEY, software, files,
accessories，other materials attached by the product, and the backup you
made, belong to our company.
(7) The authorization in this agreement will be automatically terminated once
you break the above terms.
