and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice.

Be just: that
is nearer to piety

[al-Maaidah 5:8].

Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not
the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to
piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do

[al-Maaidah 5:8].

Al-Baydaawi says in his Tafseer (commentary on the Quran) (303):

That is: do not let your intense hatred for the mushrikeen (polytheists) cause you
to fail to be just towards them and thus transgress against them by doing things
that are not permissible, such as mutilating the dead, slandering them, killing
women and children, or breaking treaties, because of the resentment in your hearts.

knowledge or jihad first?

It is reported that Al-Hasan Al-Basr Allh have mercy on him said:
One who acts without knowledge is like one who travels off the path; and the one
who acts without knowledge corrupts more than he rectifies. So seek knowledge in a
way that does not harm your worship, and seek to worship [Allh] in a way that does
not harm [your seeking of] knowledge. For verily, there were people (the Khawrij
extremists) who sought to worship [Allh] but abandoned knowledge until they
attacked the Ummah of Muhammad Allhs praise and peace be upon him with their
swords. But if they had sought knowledge, it would not have directed them to do
what they did.

And likewise an-Najaashi who was a Christian king of his country would not have
been obeyed by the people whom he ruled over in accepting Islaam and only a few
people accepted Islaam with him. For this reason, when he died there were no
Muslims to pray over him in his country. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon
him) in Madeenah prayed over Najaashi, the people went out to a musalla and
arranged rows in order to pray the janazah for an-Najaashi,and the Prophet (peace
and blessings be upon him) prayed over him. He then informed them that an-Najaashi
had died saying Indeed, your righteous brother from the people of Habasha
(Ethiopia) died today. Many of the symbols and institutions of Islaam, or most of
them, were not established in Habasha due to his (an-Najaashis) inability to
implement them there. He did not make hijra, he did not make jihaad, he did not
make Hajj, indeed it is even stated that he didnt even pray the five daily
prayers, fast or give the Divinely Legislated Zakat! Because if all of that was
made apparent to his people and they saw all of that and that he was doing all of
that, they would have rejected him and objected and thus it would not have been
possible for him to have opposed them.

And it was narrated from Abu Shurayh that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah
be upon him) said: By Allah, he does not believe; by Allah, he does not believe;
by Allah, he does not believe. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, who is that? He
said: The one whose neighbour is not safe from his annoyance.

Shaykh al-Albani (Allah hve mercy on him) said:

We should not think about how we should drive out the jews from Palestine. No. We
should think of how we are declaring the Islmic state in our own hearts. When will
you be able to declare an Islmic country in your little home?

The majority of those who shout for an Islamic law in the world have neither an
Islmic law in their own homes, in themselves, their sons, daughters or their
wives. The one who has nothing cant give anything.

I assume that I have clarified what you found unclear and that I do not support the
intifada since it is not based upon the verse:

will make your foothold firm (The Qurn 47:7, interpretation of the meanings)

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H) (Allah have mercy on him) said: Ordering
the good should not result in the loss of a greater good, nor cause a greater evil
(than before). Likewise, forbidding the evil should not result in a greater evil,
nor in the loss of a greater good.

Imam Ibn Katheer (Allah have mercy on him) (d. 774AH) stated regarding what the
Khawaarij would do to the Ummah if they ever attained strength:
If they ever gained strength, they would surely corrupt the all of the earth, Iraq
and Syria (Shaam) they would not leave a baby, male or female, neither a man or a
woman because as far as they are concerned the people have caused corruption, a
corruption that cannot be rectified except by mass killing.

Ordering good and forbidding evil are to be done with the hand, the tongue and the
heart, not with the sword.
---
The Messenger of Allaah (jgg) said, "He amongst you who sees evil, let him
change it with his hand. If he is unable, then with his tongue and if he is unable,
then with his heart - and that is the weakest of Faith. Reported by Ahmad, Muslim
(Eng. trans. 1 /33/no.77), Abu Daawoo...d, at-Tirmidhee and Ibn Maajah.

Commentary
Ibn Rajab says in Jaami' ul- 'Uloom wal-Hikam (p.304), Changing with the hand does
not mean fighting. This is also stated by Ahmad, in the narration of Saalih, he
said, 'Changing with the hand does not mean with the sword and the use of
weapons." So, the use of the sword is not for the public, rather it is for the
ruler. This saying of Imaam Ahmad is also reported by Ibn Muflih in al-Aadaabush-
Shar 'iyyah (1 /163).
