A. Is the teaching of Rizal’s Life and Works course realistic given the dangers and sensitivities of
The teaching of Jose Rizal's life and works is important because learning about
the National Hero of the Philippines would help us understand our culture and
leadership during his time. Most of his works contributed significantly to Philippine
history. Republic Act 1425, also known as the Rizal Law, requires the teaching of Jose
Rizal's life and works. Senator Jose P. Laurel, who sponsored the bill, said that
because Rizal was the founder of Philippine nationalism and has made significant
contributions to the country's current standing, it is only fair that the youth, as well as
all citizens, learn about and embody the great ideals for which he died.
Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Alonso Realonda, also known as Jose Rizal, is one
of the most revered figures in Philippine society. He was a diversified intellectual and
political activist, known for his political writings which inspired the Philippine revolution
and finally led to the Spanish colonizers' execution. (Ravin, 2001). He was a patriot,
physician, and writer who influenced the Philippine nationalist movement. He is the
Philippines' National Hero. Rizal Law is a study of the law of Rizal. Life and work are
mandated law was passed. Rizal should be introduced to students and made a part of
the curriculum so that they understand the significance of Rizal's life and works. But,
there is a lot of debate on whether or not this law should be passed, with Catholics
opposing it.
Patriotism denotes proud devotion and loyalty to one's country, while nationalism denotes
the desire to achieve freedom and political independence, especially by a country under foreign
rule. Jose Rizal's life and works, especially his novels, essentially, if not fully, radiate these traits
or, at the very least, the subject assists us in better understanding of our country.
We can learn a lot about how Rizal dealt with different obstacles in his life. He faced serious
problems and issues and moral dilemmas but reacted decently and high-mindedly, making him
The purpose of this work is to discuss the significance of the Rizal Law and what it entails,
as well as its consequences in the growth of nationalism, patriotism, and volunteerism, as well
Even though some of Rizal's novels are about injustice, threats, and literary sensitivities,
the teaching of his life and works course is practical. Rizal's writings are realistic, significant, and
culturally representative of his time's desires and needs. Rizal's writings are a kind of material
culture that reflects the times' desires and expectations. His writings were intended to have an
impact on society and inspire people to fight for the nation's independence from colonial rule.
Teaching his writings and work will help form social objectives of promoting citizen patriotism,
nationalism and volunteerism as a means of advancing society. His writings and works have a
significant impact on the future. The events, people, and lessons you've read have happened in
real life.
B. How important are literary criticisms in the study of Rizal’s Life and Works?
The academic subject on Jose Rizal's life, works, and writings was not required by
law for no reason. Far from being unrealistic, the course interesting offers so many
advantages that some contemporary academicians believe the subject, when properly
history subject, Jose Rizal's course is overflowing of historical data on which to base
The topic, for example, teaches that education is a necessary ingredient for an
individual or a country to be truly free and prosperous in various ways. The past
where we're going, but also in terms of where we've come from. As a country, our
heritage, past attitudes, and old habits are all significant indicators and determinants of
Rizal started experimenting in painting and sculpture as well. "The Triumph of Science
over Death," a clay sculpture of a nude young woman with overflowing hair standing
on a skull with a torch held high, was his most popular sculpture.
C. If given a chance to deconstruct on of Rizal’s written works (both well-known and obscure), what
would it be and what is its relation to the analysis and understanding of nation building?
This is my viewpoint on Jose Rizal's contribution to the world through his life and
works. His book contributes to nation building by encouraging Filipinos to open their
minds and reconsider their perceptions about the need to sacrifice for our country.
When people refer to me as a great thinker, I laugh. I've met a lot of conceited people
in my life, but I've never met someone with the title great thinker on their business life.
The word idealist is already heavily abused; imagine the complicated work it is
supposed to do when combined with the similarly complicated term public. May
academics like us have a responsibility to play the role of public intellectual in nation-
If that's the case, what standards do you have for this role? If the term was only
used to apply to someone who depends on her intellect rather than her intuition and
feelings, the word "thinker" would suffice. Someone who spends her time making,
thinker. However, such a general definition would cast such a wide net that it would
almost certainly fail to differentiate the type of work we implicitly expect from
intellectuals.
